General Automation Inc., an Anaheim maker of business computer systems, said it has signed a joint venture agreement with Ingenieria de Sistemas Electronics S.A. of Madrid. The deal allows a new Spanish company, financed equally by the two partners, to make and distribute General Automation's Zebra line of business systems in Spain and Portugal. This is the second foreign distribution deal General Automation has signed in recent weeks.

General Automation Inc. said Wednesday that it trimmed third-quarter losses to $3.3 million from $4.5 million a year earlier, and appears headed for profitability in the current quarter on the strength of gains from its recent restructuring.
