Is that a Twitter you see on your TV screen? If you watch Fox's "Fringe" rerun on Thursday or a repeat of the "Glee" pilot on Friday, it will be. As in many other sectors of American society, Twitter has become all the rage in the television industry, with networks and studios using the snappy, direct communication with viewers to promote shows, while writers and actors tweet their hearts out on sound stages from Los Angeles to New York. But in an unusual use of social media, Fox will feature on-screen Twitter feeds -- "tweet-peats" -- by producers and actors during the broadcasts of "Fringe" at 9 p.m. Thursday and "Glee" at 9 p.m. Friday.

If Stephen Sondheim and Brian De Palma had collaborated on a horror musical, they would never have made "Don't Go in the Woods," an undercooked, "Glee"-like hybrid of grating indie pop songs and forest slasher flick. The people who did make it — debut feature director Vincent D'Onofrio, and screenwriters Sam Bisbee (responsible for the songs) and Joe Vinciguerra — operate under the lazy artistic assumption that simply touching chocolate and peanut butter together magically makes a Reese's Cup. Instead, a young all-male band of five ventures into wooded seclusion to concentrate on new material, whereupon they perform what sounds like the same whiny lament over and over, bicker, hook up with girls and get knocked off in turn by a masked killer.

"Glee" producer and writer Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa has purchased a pied-a-terre in Hancock Park for $560,000. The one-bedroom, one-bathroom condo has 773 square feet of living space and features hardwood floors as well as tall windows to take in city, golf course and mountain views. Building amenities include valet parking, security and a gym. Aguirre-Sacasa has worked on "Glee" since 2011 and wrote for "Big Love" from 2011-12. The comic book writer and playwright has written the screenplay for the remake of "Carrie," due out next year.

The tween heartthrob ? and his die-hard fans too ? will invade Staples Center and its surrounding areas. We'll let you decide whether the smart thing to do is attend or not. (Monday) Do you ever really need an excuse to talk about "Sex and the City"? Sure, it's not exactly cinematic art, but the film versions of the hit HBO series are worthy of a viewing ? despite what Rotten Tomatoes may suggest.

NBC has looked west for its next entertainment president - all the way west to Century City. The Comcast Corp.-owned network, in the midst of a top-to-bottom overhaul, has tapped longtime 20th Century Fox Television executive Jennifer Salke as president of NBC Entertainment. As a studio executive, Salke helped develop the hits "Modern Family" and "Glee. " Salke is close friends with Bob Greenblatt, who took over the network this year as chairman after cable giant Comcast purchased NBCUniversal from General Electric Co. Greenblatt is charged with reversing years of market-share losses and restoring the fabled network's programming luster.

"Glee" mastermind Ryan Murphy has purchased actress Diane Keaton's Spanish Colonial Revival in Beverly Hills for an undisclosed amount, public records show. Keaton restored the Ralph Flewelling-designed hacienda, which she bought in 2007 for $8.1 million. It first came on the market in March 2009 priced at $12,995,000 and was most recently priced at $10.95 million. It could be months before the prices of September sales appear on public records. The courtyard-style house, built in 1927, has an oversized front door that opens to a hall with a library.

As a wedding singer in the 1980s, Idina Menzel came up with a crowd-pleasing formula: trot out a broad range of familiar songs, keep the party moving and the banter light. But the actress, who has since won a Tony Award for "Wicked" on Broadway and starred in stage and movie versions of "Rent" and on Fox's hit comedy "Glee," had to rein in her now-famous big voice. She was supposed to be background music in those days, after all, not the main attraction. Menzel smiled recently when she thought about that time, and not just because she fibbed about her age to land jobs around her native Long Island, N.Y. (She was 15 when she started, but told her band mates she was 18)

Viewers flocked to various musical programs last week: "American Idol" scored a 1-2 finish in the ratings, "Glee" registered series-high numbers and the "Academy of Country Music Awards" helped CBS to a sixth consecutive weekly victory. The Wednesday results show Fox's "American idol" averaged 21.02 million viewers, 14% less than the similar episode last season but still the most-watched prime-time program for April 12-18, according to figures released this week by the Nielsen Co. Despite airing reruns of its popular Tuesday dramas, CBS was first for the 23rd time in the prime-time television season's 30 weeks, averaging 9.2 million viewers.
