Re "Cal State grads facing an exit fee," May 14 Give an arm and a leg, and you still have to give up more. College tuition has been on the rise for the last 10 years, and just when a college student believes that the horror is over, many of the Cal State University campuses want students to pay an exit fee. What chutzpah. The average debt load for graduates who borrowed money to pay tuition hovers around $27,000, according to the Institute for College Access and Success' Project on Student Debt.

Anne Hathaway debuted her platinum blond hair wearing a seriously sheer gown at the annual Met Gala in New York on Monday. She was among a number of stars who took on dramatic 'dos for the occasion. The Oscar-winning "Les Miserables" star went all in for the Metropolitan Museum of Art 's Costume Institute Gala. It's the yearly ball in which celebs and fashionista amp up the volume and wear some opulently dramatic looks, All the Rage reports . Hathaway went all in for this year's punk theme "Punk: From Chaos to Couture" in a black vintage Valentino gown with sheer black panels that left little to the imagination.

The gown that Gwyneth Paltrow wore to the world premiere of "Iron Man 3" last week in L.A. has gotten a lot of buzz, mostly negative. The Antonio Berardi dress is boat-necked with bell sleeves, but it was the skirt that got all the attention, with sheer panels revealing the sides of Paltrow's body from the top of her hip to her ankle. Now the actress' stylist Elizabeth Saltzman defends the choice to Us Weekly, calling the dress "elegant," and saying it showed spirit -- as well as the fruits of Paltrow's labors at the gym. The White House Correspondents' Association Dinner, affectionately known as the nerd prom, attracted a bevy of stars to Washington, D.C., on Saturday night, including Nicole Kidman, Sofia Vergara, Hayden Panettiere, Jessica Pare, Katy Perry and Olivia Munn. But when it came to fashion, all eyes were on Michelle Obama, as they always are. The first lady chose a stunning black chiffon, fitted and draped, goddess-like gown with a high neckline in delicate Chantilly lace and jet black beads by Los Angeles designer Monique Lhuillier . The dress struck the right note between glamour and fun, which is just what the evening called for. Lhuillier said in an email that it is the first time she has dressed the first lady, and that "it was a dream come true.

An artist-in-residence program underway through April 21 at the Cosmopolitan in Las Vegas allows visitors to see women's apparel created without a single swatch of fabric. Designer Jennifer Henry will be showcasing the clothing that she describes as “alternative material couture” inside the resort's P3 Studio. Live models and mannequins will be wearing her one-of-a-kind dresses. A photo exhibit will illustrate more of the 200 creations she has made since starting her Flockflockflock design business in 2009.
