One would think Skrillex would be used to nabbing Grammys by now. Having scored three statues last year, the former best new artist nominee was awarded another big night Sunday, taking home three awards and beating out Deadmau5, Kaskade and surprise nominee Al Walser along the way. The dubstep spinster sheepishly emerged backstage (who doesn't like dozens of reporters staring at you?), where he chatted about scoring Harmony Korine's upcoming film “Spring Breakers,” working with ASAP Rocky and maintaining his underground credibility now that he's dipped into the mainstream.

This will go down as the year the Grammy Awards red carpet went classy. No breasts? No buttocks? No problem. Whether it was intentional, in the end, the best-dressed stars did not run afoul of the much-discussed wardrobe advisory sent last week by CBS' standards and practices committee advising attendees to cover up. Thongs and sheer panels were out, the email said. So was cleavage, puffy skin (whatever that means) and "bare flesh undercurves. Frank Ocean stood alone onstage, his now trademark headband wrapped tightly, to sing "Forrest Gump" on a set that made it seem as though he were on an outdoor treadmill. The singer had won two Grammys, had thanked an audience that was just getting to know him. He had watched the Black Keys run toward a sweep, only to be later silenced by Mumford & Sons. He'd been robbed by future one-hit-wonders Fun. for best new artist and beaten by Gotye for song of the year. The losses no doubt stung.

This post has been corrected. See note below for details. Assessments of the Bob Marley tribute number at the 55th Grammy Awards ceremony on Sunday at Staples Center were largely complimentary about the medley delivered by Bruno Mars, Sting, Rihanna and Ziggy and Damian Marley that concluded with Marley's “Could You Be Loved,” but many fans were wondering why it was served up this year. It came not on a significant birthday (he would have turned 68 earlier in the week)

Wearing a thick, black and white checkered shirt and dark green tam cap, Snoop Dogg strutted to the stage smoking a blunt. As the rapper took his seat at the end of the stage for the Broadcast Music Inc.'s “How I Wrote That Song” panel, an annual event, he puffed thick smoke rings into the air. The rapper, who now goes by Snoop Lion, passed the blunt to two of his fellow panelists -- rapper Busta Rhymes and rapper/musician B.o.B. -- while songwriters Luke Laird and Evan Bogart generously declined.

Heat 107, Lakers 97 (final) The Lakers finished their seven-game Grammy trip with a 107-97 loss to the Miami Heat on Sunday. Despite the Heat shooting 53.8% from the field, the Lakers kept the game close until the last few minutes. Turnovers ultimately did them in as the Miami defense intensified with the game on the line. LeBron James led all scorers with 32 points, shooting 12 of 18 from the field for his fifth consecutive game shooting at least 60% from the field while scoring 30 points.

Awards handed out Sunday before the evening Grammy Awards telecast sometimes set the stage for what happens during the national TV broadcast. This year, the Black Keys got the momentum rolling by having a hand in three awards early on, including rock album for “El Camino” and rock song for “Lonely Boy.” In a broader sense, since instituting the ceremony in 2004 to salute the vast majority of musicians not featured on prime-time TV, the...

Last year's Grammy Awards were somewhat anticlimactic - everyone expected Adele to win everything, and she did. This year's field is wide open, though, with diverse major contenders and no consensus front-runner in top categories.
