You know it's spring when the dandelions start sprouting in the yard. You might at first think "weeds," but with a little love these assertive greens can work wonders in the kitchen . Have you ever bitten into a dandelion leaf? The flavor is tangy, even borderline bitter, with a definite texture. Consider balancing that assertiveness with something sweet or rich. Dandelions work well in a salad paired with sweet fruits and creamy cheese, and make the perfect side dish cooked with bacon or sauteed in a little rich fat or butter.

When news broke Tuesday that sales of full-sized truck were surging, Fox News seized the moment to conclude that Americans don't really care about fuel economy. Stuart Varney of Fox Business asked if it was "time for Uncle Sam, maybe, to slam the brakes on those green car incentives. " He said recent high gas prices could push people "into fuel-efficient cars, but they're not. They're going for gas guzzlers. " PHOTOS: Top 10 cars with lowest sticker price per MPG Varney's guest, Marc Morano, founder of ClimateDepot.com , piled on. "Despite the best efforts of the environmentalists, of government mandates and subsidies and discounts and tax breaks, the SUV and the gas guzzlers reign supreme in the American auto market.

It's April, which is good news for the roughly 180,000 music fans who have tickets to the sold-out Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival in Indio, set for the weekends of April 12 and April 19. But for those who find themselves shut out of the annual festival in the desert, there are numerous noteworthy concerts happening closer to home. Most even feature modern amenities such as air conditioning, and many, in fact, include artists performing at Coachella. Granted, you won't be seeing 100-plus acts over a three-day span, but for less than the cost of one $349 general admission Coachella wristband, one can undertake a more than worthy pop-music crash course over the next four weeks.

Dodger blue is going green this season by offering free bus rides to the games from Union Station in downtown L.A. For the fourth year in a row, Dodger Stadium Express bus service will shuttle fans to and from the stadium starting at 90 minutes before the game to 45 minutes after it ends. The buses run on natural gas and will shuttle visitors every 10 minutes until the start of the game, then slow the service to once every 30 minutes. The bus is free for riders with a ticket to the game or $1.50 without one. Funding for the $1.1-million service - which will last through the 2014 season - was provided by the Mobile Source Air Pollution Reduction Review Committee.

SAN RAFAEL, Calif. - After George Lucas abandoned plans to build a movie studio along a woodsy road in Marin County, he complained about the permitting process in a place so environmentally friendly that hybrid-car ownership is four times the state average. His next move, some here say, was payback for what Lucas described in a written statement as the "bitterness and anger" expressed by his neighbors. The creator of "Star Wars" and "Indiana Jones" is working with a local foundation that hopes to build hundreds of units of affordable housing on a former dairy farm called Grady Ranch, where his studio would have risen.

Location scouts are once again red-faced over the bright green bicycle lane in downtown Los Angeles. City officials painted a 1.5-mile strip of Spring Street neon green in 2011 for a bike lane as part of larger effort pushed by Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa to make streets safer and more inviting to cyclists. But the bike path still rankles location scouts and filmmakers, who see it as another hurdle to filming in Los Angeles. Their concern: The bright color would be a distraction to viewers, doesn't belong in period movies and makes it harder for L.A. to do what it does best: play other cities.

Consider this: The Kings might be able to enhance their roster with a valuable addition, just in time for the playoffs, and the defenseman would come with zero acquisition cost. Hello, Matt Greene.
