Set on nearly two-thirds of an acre, the Mediterranean-style home has a grand foyer with a sweeping staircase, a fanciful children's room, a gym, a game room, a gift-wrapping area, a movie room, a beauty salon, a guesthouse with a recording studio, and a total of six bedrooms and nine bathrooms. The master bedroom suite contains a lounge, a fireplace and dual bathrooms and closets.

The past and present converge in a leafy three-quarter acre compound in the heart of Brentwood Park. The two-story main house ? traditional English in style with Gothic touches ? was extensively remodeled in 2006 with a raft of creature-comfort upgrades. A private, gated yard at the rear of the property holds a ranch-style guesthouse and a converted stable that look much the same as when they were built in the 1920s. Producer Mike Fleiss, creator of "The Bachelor," and his wife, Alexandra Vorbeck, who designed the home's landscaping, purchased the property in 2004 and promptly took the aging main house down to its studs.

The house that social reformer and novelist Upton Sinclair lived in during the 1940s through the '60s has come on the market in Monrovia at $1.5 million. Built in 1923, the Spanish Colonial Revival-style residence is listed on the National Register of Historical Places and is a National Historic Landmark. High arched windows, Mission Revival roof parapets and an ornate arched doorway are among the original features. French doors open off the living room and formal dining room to a covered side patio.

John Schneider, whose career has spanned from "The Dukes of Hazzard" in the '80s to "Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman" in the '90s to the still-running "Smallville," has listed his Agoura Hills home for sale at $2,199,000. The actor described the English-style house of nearly 7,000 square feet as having "an East Coast kind of flair. " "In the summer, it has ivy on the outside," he said. "We have fall at the house. You have to rake leaves. " Schneider raised his children on the 3-acre spread, which has a creek that leads to the area where "Dukes" (1979-85)

A La CaƱada Flintridge house once owned by Academy Award-winning actor Victor McLaglen has come on the market at $4.95 million. McLaglen and his family named the home Fairhaven and lived there from 1929 to '44. The 1.9-acre compound includes the two-story main house with basement, a two-bedroom guesthouse and a pool house for a total of 7,642 square feet of living space. McLaglen, who died in 1959 at 72, won his Oscar for "The Informer" (1935). He starred with John Wayne in "The Quiet Man" (1952)

There are four bedrooms and six bathrooms. De Carlo, who died in 2007 at 84, had a six-decade acting career including roles in "The Ten Commandments" (1956)

The nearly 6,648-square-foot main house and two guesthouses sit on 1.5 gated acres with a tennis court and swimming pool. The main house has three bedroom suites for a total of six bedrooms and 71/2 bathrooms including the 1,599-square-foot and 742-square-foot guesthouses. Bono, who died in 1998 at 62, was known for such hit songs as "I Got You Babe" and "The Beat Goes On" as part of the '60s duo Sonny and Cher.

Barton, 25, starred in "The Beautiful Life" (2009) and "The O.C. " (2003-06). She purchased the house in 2005 for $6.4 million, according to public records.
