In December, 1983, five young men from a virtually unknown tribe crossed the Yuat River in the highlands of Papua New Guinea and entered a Baptist mission. Our people are dying out, the men told the missionaries. Our children do not thrive. We are deformed by disease. Our young men die in their prime. We don't have enough women for our young men to have wives. We are willing to stop hiding in the jungle if we must. Please help us.
