Roger Ebert's passing Thursday at age 70 leaves behind a staggering body of work: He reviewed as many as 285 movies a year, spent decades as a fixture on TV and published 17 books. Following are but a few highlights from his prolific career. Ebert began working as a film critic at the Chicago Sun-Times in April 1967. Among his first reviews was Arthur Penn's "Bonnie and Clyde," starring Warren Beatty and Faye Dunaway. Ebert wrote , "Years from now it is quite possible that 'Bonnie and Clyde' will be seen as the definitive film of the 1960s, showing with sadness, humor and unforgiving detail what one society had come to. " A few years later, he wrote the screenplay for the exploitation film "Beyond the Valley of the Dolls" for Russ Meyer, though he would return to journalism before long.

Halle Berry and her fiance, Olivier Martinez, got into a spat with paparazzi at LAX Airport on Monday night. Shutterbugs swarmed Berry, Martinez and her young daughter, Nahla, snapping photos of them as they made their way down the escalators and out of the terminal after a vacation in Hawaii. Berry shielded her face as Martinez carried Nahla. "Get away from the child, Jesus, what ... is wrong with you people ... that's a child here," Berry, 46, was heard shouting and cursing at the photographers.

As for the No. 1 spot? Conan O'Brien may not have much to talk to Jay Leno about these days, but the rival talk-show hosts do share at least one thing in common: They both go a little gaga in the presence of Halle Berry. Leno couldn't help ogling Berry when she stopped by “The Tonight Show” Monday night wearing a plunging black minidress. On Wednesday, it was O'Brien's turn to lose his cool over the Oscar-winning beauty, meaning that, in one way at least, he's still following Leno. After a fun flashback to an appearance Berry made 20 years ago on a very early episode of O'Brien's NBC talk show "Late Night," wearing a hat that looked like it was borrowed from the “Blossom” wardrobe department, the conversation turned to her line of perfumes - specifically, how and where to apply them.

Relegated to bit parts and off-screen voices in countless movies, the 911 operator graduates to lead-role status in "The Call," with Halle Berry playing the heroic municipal employee. The semi-fresh thriller, set mainly in an emergency call center and on the freeways of Los Angeles, puts a tech slant on a damsel-in-distress setup. It buzzes along for a while, the promising plot innovations inviting suspension of disbelief, before by-the-numbers implausibility, over-the-top valor and unsavory contrivances take over and the line goes dead.
