Beginnings Built between 1902 and 1910, the Craftsman-style homes of Harvard Heights owe their grandeur to a land covenant that stipulated that houses built within the tract cost at least $2,500. The city's best architects flocked to the area to build elegant homes for upscale residents. The naming of streets after universities such as Harvard, Cambridge, Oxford and Hobart added to the neighborhood's prestige.
