Golden West College instructor Harvey Clemans has been named the 1988/89 Outstanding Artist, an honor awarded by the city's Allied Arts Board and the Arts Associates, a private organization of artists and patrons. Clemans, a well-known art instructor at the community college since 1970, has also been selected to visit Anjo, Japan, Huntington Beach's sister city.

A lecture by abstract artist Laddie John Dill and a film on Andy Warhol's works highlight this year's Art Week celebration beginning Monday at Golden West College. The five-day celebration of the arts will feature the most activities ever for this annual event and will include lectures and other presentations by artists and Golden West instructors. Admission to all events, except for a barbecue lunch, is free. Dill, a renowned Los Angeles-based artist, is scheduled to discuss his work at 7 p.m.
