The football coach of Hemet High School and his wife were arrested Tuesday on suspicion of providing sex for at least two former members of the school's football team, authorities reported. Randy Brown, 38, and his wife, Kelly, 31, were each booked into Riverside County Jail on $5,000 bail, and each faces felony charges of committing oral copulation with a minor and conspiracy to commit oral copulation, Riverside County Deputy Dist. Atty. Todd Rash said.

Two former Hemet High School football players have sued a former coach and his wife who admitted soliciting them for sex. The separate suits, filed by Marc C. Searl, 18, and Adrian T. Page, 19, seek unspecified damages and accuse Randy and Kelly Brown of assault, battery, conspiracy and infliction of emotional distress.

A former high school coach told players that a botched vasectomy ruined his sex life so he coerced teen-agers to have sex with his wife to salvage his marriage and help the team, court documents say. Former Hemet High School football coach Randy Brown offered one youth a college scholarship to have sex with his wife, according to a search warrant affidavit unsealed Monday.

The fast-moving Silver fire in Riverside County grew significantly in size to roughly 2,500 acres, forcing evacuations and the closure of Highway 243 near Banning. Footage from news helicopters showed several structures on fire in the communities of Poppet Flats, Twin Pines and Silent Valley, where authorities had issued mandatory evacuation orders within the last hour. CalFire spokesman Daniel Berlant said incident commanders had a “significant number of fire engines that are assigned to structure defense.” No injuries had been immediately reported.

They are playing football at Hemet High this season, which wouldn't be surprising except for the off-field controversy that has plagued the Bulldogs. This town was turned upside down last spring with revelation of a sex scandal involving then-football coach Randy Brown, his wife and members of the football team. Now, six months later, the Browns have moved and the story is no longer the topic of conversation at every coffee shop in town.
