Herbert A. Glaser has joined Edison Mission Energy in Irvine as vice president and associate general counsel. He will head the company's activities in Washington, focusing on export credit agencies and multinational development banks. Before joining the company, Glaser was with the law firms of McDermott, Will & Emery and King & Spalding in Washington. Several businesses are sponsoring a combination blood and bone marrow drive today and on the next two Tuesdays. The drive was organized to help Paul Ortiz, a 30-year-old father of two who worked for maintenance at The City Shopping Center. He has been diagnosed with leukemia and needs a bone marrow transplant, but no suitable donor has been found. The City's management company, Cushman & Wakefield, joined with TRW and Metropolitan Life Insurance Co. to sponsor the drive.

Michael Vishny has been named vice president and chief human resources officer for U.S. Robotics, based in the Irvine office. He was formerly vice president of human resources for Gateway Inc. Vishny also has been with S.C. Johnson Wax, Dun & Bradstreet/A.C. Nielsen Co. and Motorola Inc. Ronald Crocco has been selected to head the company's new Emerging Business Unit in Irvine.

Mike Noonan has been named vice president, business retention for the Orange County Economic Development Consortium, the economic development operation of the Orange County Business Council. Noonan retired after 25 years with Pacific Bell, where he was director of external affairs and responsible for government relations and community affairs. * William A. Chip Brown has been named chief operating officer at Sonance in San Clemente, a manufacturer of audio systems and home theater products. He was most recently a principal with Strategic Growth Inc. Before that, Brown was chief operating officer of Barbeques Galore, senior director and product manager at PepsiCo and management consultant at Deloitte & Touche. * Mark A. * Madison Jobe has been named chief operating officer for Shakey's Inc., an Irvine-based pizza franchise company. He had been a consultant to the company for the past year, responsible for franchise development. Jobe has previously been a member of the board of directors and vice president for Red Robin International Inc., vice president of the Western region for Fuddruckers Inc. and vice president for Santa Anita Realty Enterprises Inc.
