In the Season 2 finale of Animal Planet's “Treehouse Masters” (airing 10 p.m. Friday and repeating the following week ), arboreal architect Pete Nelson branches out to build a two-story recording facility with guest quarters in a grove of cedars at Bear Creek Studio outside Seattle. “It had to have a great vibe, and Pete is all about vibe,” said owner Ryan Hadlock, who has recorded Eric Clapton, Foo Fighters and the Lumineers. The new treehouse studio was inaugurated by Cee Lo Green.

A nine-hour police search for a 54-year-old murder suspect in the Hollywood Hills area ended without an arrest on Tuesday, but sheriff's homicide detectives say they have received several tips. The massive manhunt in the hills above the Greek Theater and around Runyon Canyon ended about 3:30 p.m. after dozens of deputies and police officers were unable to find Oscar Bridges. He is wanted in connection with the Jan. 23 stabbing death  of Robert Brewer, 21, of Texas. Los Angeles County Sheriff Lt. Holly Francisco said they flooded the area with uniform officers after they received a tip. “He knows a lot of people in the area,” Francisco said of Bridges.

Authorities expanded a manhunt Tuesday morning in the Hollywood Hills area for a 54-year-old man wanted in a fatal stabbing. Los Angeles County sheriff's homicide detectives along with 50 additional personnel and officers from local agencies were to conduct a large-scale search above the Greek Theater and Runyon Canyon for the suspect, identified as Oscar Bridges. He is wanted in connection with the Jan. 23 stabbing death of 21-year-old Robert Brewer of Texas. The stabbing occurred around 10:40 a.m. in a motel room in the 10400 block of Vermont Avenue in the Westmont neighborhood, according to police.

SACRAMENTO -- State Sen. Ted Lieu's announcement that he is running for an open congressional seat has sparked interest in his Senate seat from a crowd of possible contenders, including Assemblyman Al Muratsuchi and former Assemblywoman Betsy Butler. Lieu, a Democrat from Torrrance, said he plans to run for the congressional seat being vacated by the retirement of Rep. Henry Waxman, a contest that could be a tough one if L.A. County Supervisor Zev Yaorslavsky decides to jump in. On Tuesday, Democrat Vito Imbasciani, a state surgeon for the California Army National Guard, became the first person to announce his candidacy for Lieu's 26th Senate District seat.

After the last Grammy was handed out Sunday, the dash toward one of the night's countless post-show parties was immediate. It was the last night of partying till the wee hours to celebrate big wins -- or drown those losses with an open-bar cocktail. As crews worked to dissemble the many moving parts that made up the Grammy stage, hundreds  of attendees crammed the Convention Center next door for the official after-party. A very pregnant Ciara performed a lengthy set, and Boyz II Men repurposed its current Las Vegas show with a set packed with crowd-pleasing covers and hits.
