Included in the acquisition were generators, lights, cables, grip camera and lighting support equipment, lighting trucks and other assets. Matthews said the equipment would be refurbished and folded into its Hollywood Rental Co. subsidiary.

Camera Platforms International Inc. said Hollywood Rental Co. exercised an option to buy movie production equipment leased from Camera Platforms for $534,000. Hollywood Rental purchased 180 ballasts from Valencia-based Camera Platforms, which it originally leased under a 1989 agreement. The ballasts control the flow of electricity in high-intensity lights commonly used in movie production.

The transaction requires execution of a definitive agreement, Matthews said.

Innovative designs and manufactures equipment for television production and has annual sales of about $4 million, according to Matthews co-chairman Carlos De Mattos. Separately, Matthews said, its subsidiary, Hollywood Rental Co.
