Music industry executive Phil Quartararo has listed his walled and gated Brentwood home for $13.25 million. The hacienda-style residence was built in 1936 and designed by John Byers, known for the Spanish Colonial Revival style. It was expanded during Quartararo's ownership in keeping with its Mexican and Spanish architectural roots. The six-bedroom, 7 1/2 -bathroom house has about 7,200 square feet of living space in two stories and sits on nearly a 1 1/2 acres, about 85% of which is flat.

Dr. Richard Ellenbogen, one of the surgeons featured in "Dr. 90210," has listed his Sunset Strip-area home for $3,495,000. Update: This version includes additional details. The walled and gated villa has three bedrooms, a maid's room and three bathrooms in 3,405 square feet. There are city views from balconies off the bedrooms. Built in 1953, the two-story house has a subterranean wine cellar, a media room and formal living and dining rooms. The grounds include wrought-iron gazebos, antique fountains, a koi pond, a waterfall, mature trees and a swimming pool.

Music industry executive Mark Mazzetti has sold his Hollywood Hills-area home for $1,089,000. The property has a lagoon pool surrounded by lawn and palm trees on more than 1 acre. The midcentury house has a large living room with a fireplace, a wall of windows looking toward the swimming pool, two bedrooms and 1 3/4 bathrooms in 1,774 square feet of living space. It sits on a flat promontory with vertical drops on three sides and views of the Hollywood sign, the Griffith Observatory, the Palos Verdes Peninsula and the ocean.

Designer Stephan Basil Yacobian has listed his hip Spanish Colonial in the Hancock Park area at $1,595,000. The walled compound has a courtyard with an Andalusian fountain, tile steps leading to a heavy wooden entry door, a terra-cotta fireplace with accent tiles in the living room and a Spanish tile fire pit with barbecue in the patio area. Interior finishes reflect the 1920s origins of the three-bedroom, 3 1/2 -bathroom, 2,506-square-foot home. Yacobian's focus on color, flow and function is evidenced in the remodel, which can be toured on YouTube.

Dancer-singer-actress Jennifer Lopez may have taken a tumble during a performance of her new single "Louboutins" at the American Music Awards last month, but she's on terra-firm where the sale of her French country villa is concerned. Update: An earlier version of this story showed a different sales price that appeared on the MLS Friday. The Bel-Air property she and her singer husband, Marc Anthony , had listed more than a year ago at $8.5 million closed escrow this week.

Television writer Daniel Freudenberger has listed his historic Cheviot Hills home for $3,695,000. The Spanish-style house, built in 1925, was constructed on a double lot for the developer of the tract, W.R. McConnell. The 4,200-square-foot home sits on 14,180 square feet at the high point of the neighborhood, providing expansive city views. The U-shaped home has a center courtyard. There are four bedrooms, 3 1/2 bathrooms, original archways, an updated kitchen with two butler's pantries, high ceilings and living room and den fireplaces.

For a phone guide that deals specifically with the West, I went to a new series of applications by California native plant enthusiast Steve Hartman. Hartman, a board member at the Theodore Payne Foundation for Wildflowers and Native Plants in Sun Valley, has two iPhone apps out through a company called Earthrover Software. One is for wildflowers of the Sierra Nevada ranges, another is for California native wildflowers. Each is $9.99. In both cases, Earthrover helps you "key" wildflowers with a series of useful prompts: What time of year is it?

Actor French Stewart and his wife, actress and interior designer Katherine LaNasa, have listed their renovated and expanded Hollywood Hills-area home for $4,195,000. The 1936 traditional two-story house has four bedrooms and five bathrooms. It sits behind tall hedges on about a third of an acre with mature trees and a swimming pool. LaNasa, who runs her own company, CasaLaNasa, did the remodel and interior design. Stewart, 45, costarred in "3rd Rock From the Sun" (1996-2001)
