House Judiciary Committee Chairman Peter W. Rodino Jr. (D-N.J.) is resting at Walter Reed Army Medical Center where he has been hospitalized since complaining of chest pains, an aide said today. Rodino, 75, was admitted to the hospital Monday night and has been undergoing tests.

Former Rep. Edward Hutchinson, the ranking Republican on the House Judiciary Committee during the Nixon impeachment debate, has died in Florida, it was announced Tuesday. The announcement of Hutchinson's death Monday night at his retirement home in Naples on the Gulf Coast was made on the House floor by Rep. William Broomfield, a fellow Republican from Michigan.

The senior Democrat on the House Judiciary Committee protested President Bush's reelection with a new report claiming serious election irregularities and "significant disenfranchisement" of voters in Ohio. The report by Rep. John Conyers of Michigan says Congress should challenge the electoral college vote when it is tallied today in the House and investigate all claims of voter problems in Ohio.
