Into the limo go the stars of CBS' sitcom "How I Met Your Mother." Out of the limo they go. In the limo, out, in ... well, you get the picture. For this New Year's Eve episode, Josh Radnor, Alyson Hannigan, Jason Segel, Neil Patrick Harris and Cobie Smulders will enter and exit this stationary limousine 16 times. If it were shot like a regular sitcom, there would be a couple of takes of a scene like this, shot before a live audience in one night of taping.

Britney Spears will guest star in a March 24 episode of the CBS series "How I Met Your Mother," the network said Tuesday. The pop star will portray a receptionist in a dermatologist's office named Abby who becomes "smitten" with Ted (Josh Radnor), a CBS spokeswoman said. Craig Thomas, the show's creator, told Usmagazine.com that Spears attended a table reading with the cast on Monday, and that her scenes will probably be filmed later this week. He said representatives for Spears approached CBS about "Mother" because "she was looking for a small part on a funny show."

Just on the merits alone, it makes sense that Neil Patrick Harris snagged a supporting actor Emmy nomination for "How I Met Your Mother." The CBS comedy has earned plenty of critical praise, if less than fabulous ratings, and as Barney, the dapper, sardonic ladies' man with the memorable catchphrases ("Suit up!) and the extensive porn collection, Harris has thrived in the type of juicy, scene-stealing role he never thought he'd get.
