Ivan Calderon already misses former Chicago White Sox teammate Harold Baines, but Calderon was glad to move into Baines' slot in the batting lineup Sunday. Calderon, the White Sox right fielder, moved from the cleanup position to the No. 3 spot after Baines was traded Saturday to Texas in a five-player deal. The loss of Baines left a gaping hole in the White Sox lineup, one that Calderon didn't mind filling in a 3-2 victory over the Angels in front of 29,363 at Anaheim Stadium.

"Eye of the Stranger" (citywide, rated R for brutal violence and strong sexuality) is a bargain-bin melodrama en route to the video bin. The writer-director-producer-star is David Heavener, and he plays the stranger, er Stranger. Inexplicably, despite that title, he has two ) eyes--no cyclops he. This mysterious stranger who cleans up a corrupt town isn't required to say very much, though. Modeled on Clint Eastwood's Man With No Name, he's also very close to being the Man With No Voice.
