American Savings Bank, created 18 months ago out of the ashes of the collapsing Financial Corp. of America in Irvine, purchased the failed Huntington Federal Savings & Loan on Friday for $1.5 million. Huntington Savings' two branches, with $114.2 million in deposits, will reopen Monday as American branches, Dianne Nelson, an American spokeswoman, said.
