An MTA bus struck and killed a 39-year-old man Thursday morning at West Avenue 28 and Idell Street, authorities said. Armen Mandakunian, who lived near the accident scene, was crossing Avenue 28 about 7 a.m. when the bus hit him while making a right turn, said LAPD Officer Michael Jolicoeur. The bus driver, Cheryl Zoller, told authorities she did not see anything but "felt a thump and immediately pulled over and discovered the victim," said MTA spokesman Marc Littman.
