Ingram Micro Inc., the world's largest distributor of computers, software and electronics, said Thursday that its fourth-quarter profit rose 8.8% as sales grew in Asia and North America. Net income increased to $91.7 million, or 53 cents a share, from $84.4 million, or 51 cents, a year earlier, the Santa Ana-based company said. Sales rose 11% to $8.85 billion. Ingram Micro's operating income in Asia more than doubled to $22.8 million, while the North American unit climbed 17% to $64.6 million.

Ingram Micro Inc., the Santa Ana-based distributor of computers, software and electronics, agreed to buy DBL Distributing Inc. for $96 million to expand its consumer-electronics offerings. DBL will become a subsidiary of Ingram, keeping its management and the same number of employees, a spokesman said. DBL, based in Scottsdale, Ariz., sells more than 17,000 electronics products from brands including Philips, Samsung and Sony to U.S. retailers.

Google Inc. will start selling devices that scour corporate networks through Santa Ana-based distributor Ingram Micro Inc. Ingram will sell the Google Search Appliance and Google Mini in the U.S. now and in other countries later, Google said.

Ingram Micro Inc., the biggest computer and electronics distributor, said second-quarter profit missed its forecast after it set aside $15 million to cover losses from a Securities and Exchange Commission probe. Profit in the quarter ended June 30 was $50 million to $56 million, or 29 cents to 32 cents a share, after the SEC-related costs, Santa Ana-based Ingram Micro said. That missed an April 26 forecast of $59 million to $65 million.

Ingram Micro Inc., a Santa Ana-based distributor of networking hardware, software and computer peripherals, said its second-quarter profit fell 2.6% because of costs related to a possible action by regulators. Net income for the quarter was $52.4 million, or 30 cents a share, down from $53.8 million, or 32 cents, a year earlier. Revenue rose 11% to $8.19 billion. During the quarter, the company recorded a charge of $15 million, or 5 cents a share.

Ingram Micro Inc., the world's largest computer products distributor, posted better-than-expected quarterly profit as it boosted sales in Asia and Europe. Third-quarter net income rose 24% to $72.4 million, or 41 cents a share, from $58.5 million, or 34 cents, a year earlier, beating the company's and analysts' forecasts. Revenue increased 15% to $8.61 billion. Ingram Micro shares were up in extended trading after closing at $19.40.

Net income at the world's largest distributor of computers, software and electronics increased 6.5% to $84.4 million, or 51 cents a share, from $79.2 million, or 48 cents, a year earlier, the company said in a statement. Sales rose 6.7% to $7.96 billion.

Net income rose to $61.7 million, or 36 cents a share, from $42.5 million, or 26 cents, a year earlier, the Santa Ana-based company said. Profit beat the 34-cent estimate of Raymond James analyst Brian Alexander. Sales grew 7.8% to $7.6 billion in the period ended April 1.
