Construction of the Guideway Demonstration Project, a transit system connecting John Wayne Airport with the Irvine Business Complex, will cost between $130 million and $146 million, officials learned Wednesday during a meeting of the Irvine Transportation Authority's finance commission. City officials will need to come up with $11 million to $31 million, depending on the eventual size of the rail system. One possible source of that money is selling advertising on the side of the train cars.
