Corporate real estate consultant Equis Corp. has appointed J.D. Cook senior vice president of the company's Los Angeles office. Cook is the former senior vice president of the Staubach Co.'s Los Angeles office. He also was manager of the western region for Credit Suisse First Boston Realty Corp. and a senior vice president of Cushman Realty Corp., which later merged with Cushman & Wakefield. Chicago-based Equis has 28 offices in the United States and five overseas.

Frome Investments purchased 16 multi-tenant office and industrial buildings in the Garden Grove Commerce Center in Garden Grove totaling 218,036 square feet for about $14.8 million. The properties comprise three office buildings totaling 28,640 square feet at 7411-7461 Garden Grove Blvd. and 13 industrial and flex buildings at 12755-12891 Western Ave. totaling 189,396 square feet.

Investment banking giant Donaldson Lufkin & Jenrette has hired veteran Los Angeles brokers J.D. Cook, Gary Weiss and Jeffrey Strnad to operate the new Western regional office of DLJ's "boutique" real estate services subsidiary. New York-based DLJ Realty Services assists the firm's clients in such functions as tenant lease representation, strategic real estate planning, project management and mortgage consulting, said President George Twill.

Through one of the biggest office lease transactions in Los Angeles history, Fox Entertainment Group Inc. will stay put at the landmark Fox Plaza in Century City--at least for 15 more years. Media tycoon Rupert Murdoch's Fox team is consolidating various lease arrangements in the building totaling more than 315,000 square feet through a transaction said to be valued at more than $250 million--pretty close to what billionaire investor Marvin Davis paid for the building 28 months ago.
