These are fidgety times for America's children. Roughly 1 in 12 kids ages 6 to 17 has been diagnosed with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, more commonly called ADHD. He was detained again about 10:20 p.m. after UCLA police saw McClellan, 45, being interviewed on a TV newscast while standing in a campus parking lot. Self-proclaimed pedophile Jack McClellan was released from custody Tuesday after the Los Angeles city attorney's office determined that the restraining order he was arrested for allegedly violating was defective and dismissed its criminal case against him. The decision represents a major blow to parents groups that for months have tried to get police to keep McClellan away from children even though law enforcement officers say he is not breaking the law.

A self-proclaimed pedophile was ordered Friday to stay at least 10 yards from any child in the state by a judge who extended a temporary restraining order for three years. I love those billboards around town that proclaim "Be a Trojan. Beat Notre Dame." Fortunately for the person who dreamed up that advertisement, the word beat is spelled the same in the past, present and future tenses. It would be more accurate, however, if the billboards were changed to "Be a Trojan. Beat Notre Dame in 1982," which is the last time that phenomenon occurred. How about a series of new billboards, such as "Be a Trojan. Beat UCLA in 1990," or "Be a Trojan. Beat Fresno State."

But in an age when we are inundated with revelations of child sexual abuse, McClellan, a self-described pedophile, has generated a new category of creep.

In a surprising move, a Los Angeles County Superior Court judge on Friday granted a sweeping temporary restraining order barring self-proclaimed pedophile Jack McClellan from coming within 10 yards of any child in California. Judge Melvin Sandvig's order specifically prohibits McClellan from following, stalking, hitting or loitering around any minor. He also cannot contact or photograph a child or post on the Internet pictures or video of a minor without parental consent. "Victory!"

Self-proclaimed pedophile Jack McClellan was arrested this week for allegedly violating a judge's restraining order intended to protect children and put their parents at ease. But within hours, he was back on the street and in front of the television cameras. McClellan was then arrested again for the same offense and is now being held on $150,000 bail. But keeping McClellan behind bars may prove more difficult, legal experts said.
