After sitting out the last five games with a strained left calf, Clippers guard Jamal Crawford will play Saturday against the Sacramento Kings at Staples Center. Clippers Coach Doc Rivers said that Crawford, who hasn't played in a game since March 29 at Houston, will probably see limited playing time. “There is no minute restriction, but there will be,” Rivers said Saturday morning. “We're not going to go out there and throw him out there for 30 minutes, I can tell you that.

OAKLAND - With two days off before the Clippers played the Golden State Warriors in Game 3 of the NBA playoffs, reserve guard Jamal Crawford was forced to be careful with his left calf. "I just got treatment, lots and lots of treatment," he said. But Crawford was able to play Thursday night in the best-of-seven series despite a calf injury that's bothering him. "The calf, it limits you a lot," he said. "It happened in the first half of [Game 2] and I pulled myself out. That's when I was actually getting a rhythm, which was weird.

Jamal Crawford made a three-point basket from half court to beat the first-quarter buzzer, giving the Clippers a five-point lead, sending the crowd at Staples Center into a frenzy. But that was a short-lived good feeling for Crawford and the rest of the Clippers reserve unit Saturday against the Golden State Warriors during Game 1 of the Western Conference first-round playoff series. The Clippers bench went eight for 30 shooting from the field, scoring only 26 points. "We're trying to find our rhythm," said Crawford, who was two for 11 shooting from the field, one for five from three-point range.

Chris Paul acknowledged that he's stumped. He can't figure out a nickname for Jamal Crawford that does the veteran guard justice. "Not 'The Microwave' because that doesn't really stay hot," Paul said. Definitely not befitting of Crawford, who led all scorers with 29 points in 29 minutes, shooting an impressive 10-for-14 from the field, in the Clippers 101-92 win over Memphis. The 32-year old Crawford, who comes off the bench, hit step-back jumpers, penetrated the lane for layups and made the Clippers' often-talked about second unit live up to its hype of being one of the best in the league.

Jamal Crawford sat toward the end of the Clippers' bench during a game Saturday night against the Atlanta Hawks, his left leg wrapped in ice, the pain in his strained calf too much for him to play in the second half. He had given the Clippers 9 minutes 35 seconds of playing time in the first half, but was unable to go any more even though Crawford and the Clippers said the shooting guard didn't reinjure himself. Crawford is not expected to play Monday night against the Phoenix Suns at Staples Center and may not play the rest of the week.

The Clippers are not done trying to make their team better yet. They plan to have free-agent guard Jamal Crawford in for a visit Tuesday at the team's practice facility, according to sources who were not authorized to speak publicly on the matter. The Clippers plan to offer Crawford the mid-level exception that starts at $5 million. The Clippers are willing to offer Crawford, a 6-foot-5 guard, at least a three-year deal, sources said. The Clippers also are planning to offer a contract to Chauncey Billups, sources said.

For now, at least, Willie Green will be the Clippers' starting shooting guard in place of the injured J.J. Redick, and Jamal Crawford will come off the bench. Coach Doc Rivers said Wednesday at the team's shootaround that he likes to have Crawford provide the Clippers with an offensive burst off the bench. Redick is expected to be out six to eight weeks with a broken right hand and torn ligaments on his right wrist. “Willie will play unless something else happens,” Rivers said.

Jamal Crawford missed five of his first six shots Saturday, a clear sign the Clippers reserve shooting guard was out of rhythm after sitting out the last five games recovering from a strained left calf. But Crawford made his next two shots, a clear sign he is confident enough to take shots when the result hangs in the balance, even if he's still trying to find his way after being out for so long. "I think in the second half, I got more comfortable," Crawford said after scoring 10 points on three-for-eight shooting.

The thought has crossed the mind of Clippers Coach Doc Rivers . Should he hold out All-Stars Chris Paul and Blake Griffin in any of the four regular-season games the Clippers have left? "Yeah, I have, but I don't know if I'll do it or not," Rivers said. "But it's a thought. We do have this interesting schedule, where we play a game. We have two days off. That's unusual. " The Clippers don't play again until Wednesday against Oklahoma City at Staples Center and then again Saturday against Sacramento at home.
