To hear James Deen tell it, performance anxiety was never a factor in his debut acting job. The popular and prolific porn performer -- who has starred in several thousand adult films including such titles as “Orgy University” and “ Farrah Superstar: Backdoor Teen Mom ” -- treated his maiden narrative movie performance in the micro-budget thriller “The Canyons” as a no-lose propostion. Case in point: acting alongside Lindsay Lohan in her last role before being sentenced to 90 days of “lockdown rehab,” Deen got into a shouting argument with “Canyons” director Paul Schrader about how he was performing a scene.

Bret Easton Ellis, the iconoclastic author of "Less Than Zero" and screenwriter of "The Canyons," has confirmed that he's penned a script for a fellow pop-culture provocateur, "Yeezus" rapper-producer Kanye West. The pair began collaborating last year when West enlisted the author to reimagine a scene from his 1991 novel "American Psycho" (adapted into a movie starring Christian Bale in 2000) for a promotional video for "Yeezus. " The two worked so well together that they started meeting about a script, and Ellis recently  told Vice that the project is now in West's hands.

If the creation of self-important tedium were a competitive sport, "The Canyons" would take home the gold. This film so corners the market on lethargy and pretension the judges might not even bother handing out a silver or even a bronze. Directed by Paul Schrader and written by Bret Easton Ellis, "The Canyons" has gotten a lot of mileage out of what the director has called "discard casting - using people that other people won't hire. " In this case, the "discards" in question are Lindsay Lohan, whose personal trials have become public spectacle, and James Deen, who's reportedly made so many thousands of porn films that there doesn't appear to be an exact count available.

Though it features adult-film star James Deen and some explicit sex scenes, the only porn in "The Canyons" -- the new movie directed by Paul Schrader and written by Bret Easton Ellis -- is architecture porn. For design buffs, "The Canyons" will likely be a big turn-on, though not always in conventional ways. The movie, starring Lindsay Lohan and Deen as a young, amoral Hollywood couple, places its principle action in a stunning modernist house that is located, appropriately enough, in a Malibu canyon.

"Teen Mom" and "Teen Mom 2" star Farrah Abraham has sold her sex tape for a sum reportedly in the high six figures - or somewhere in the neighborhood of $14,000 a minute for the 70 minutes of naked nasty goodness. Or badness, depending on your point of view. "I'm happy to confirm that we have purchased it," Vivid Entertainment honcho Steve Hirsch said in a statement Monday. "We went after this movie as vigorously as any sex tape we've ever pursued. We felt it was definitely worth it, not only because of Farrah's popularity, but because the footage itself is amazing.  ... "Farrah's looks remind me of a young Kim Kardashian," he said, "and we all know how her story turned out. " Of course, Kardashian didn't have the reality show before the sex tape.

How does Lindsay Lohan calm those pesky nudity nerves? Boxer briefs are an instant remedy. Boxer briefs on the other guy, that is. Before going topless on the set of her latest flick, "The Canyons," the 26-year-old actress reportedly asked her 10-man production crew to strip down to their skivvies - and they did, said TMZ . Nothing spells relaxation like a crowd of nearly naked dudes, Lilo. Is this how you bared it all for Playboy ? Lohan finished the steamy scene without issue, perhaps taking cues from her porn-star castmate , James Deen.

Lindsay Lohan and law enforcement are crossing paths yet again. The actress was being sought by police for questioning regarding an alleged theft of watches and more at the Hollywood Hills home of one of her friends, L.A. Now reported Tuesday. Complicating the situation for the cops: For whatever reason, the friend who initially reported the items stolen isn't cooperating. Investigators were expected to present the case to prosecutors Tuesday to determine whether there was enough evidence to proceed with criminal charges, police sources said.

“The Canyons,” a collaboration between screenwriter and author Bret Easton Ellis and filmmaker Paul Schrader billed as “American Psycho” meets “American Gigolo,” has been picked up for distribution by IFC Films. Starring troubled starlet Lindsay Lohan and porn star James Deen in his first major non-adult film role, the picture has already lived a vibrant life in the media as a flashpoint of controversy and something of a contemporary elaboration of the old adage that there is no such thing as bad publicity.

So LiLo actually thinks she's above something else besides the law, then? Romney, wife of former presidential candidate Mitt Romney, reportedly turned down the show last week.

Despite boasting the provocative combination of Lindsay Lohan and a porn star, "The Canyons" failed to interest moviegoers this weekend. At least that was the case at the one theater where the movie debuted, New York City's IFC Center, which sold a paltry $15,200 worth of tickets to "The Canyons," per distributor IFC Films. Beginning Friday, the movie was also available for purchase via video-on-demand and iTunes, platforms on which the movie is performing "extremely well" so far, IFC said.

On a blazing summer morning, James Deen, looking like the frat boy next door, hunched over a table inside a Woodland Hills café lobbing harsh words at the film business, just days before his dramatic-feature debut in one of the summer's most talked-about movies. "It's the most unprofessional, God-awful business anywhere: Hollywood," said Deen, star with Lindsay Lohan of the micro-budget indie thriller "The Canyons. " "Porn is much more respectable. No shady power plays. People are nicer.
