A 25-year-old North Hills woman tearfully testified Monday that she was abducted off a San Fernando Valley street, threatened with deportation and raped by a former agent for the federal Immigration and Naturalization Service. The agent, James Edward Riley, 34, is on trial in Van Nuys Superior Court in connection with seven alleged assaults against Latina women.

An Immigration and Naturalization Service agent charged with abducting and raping a Latina is a suspect in several other rapes, according to authorities who asked Wednesday for other possible victims to come forward. Los Angeles police said they will seek additional charges against James Edward Riley, 32, of Reseda as early as today. "We have talked to several victims," Lt. Dennis Dunn said. "We think there may be more." Riley, 32, was arrested at 4:30 a.m.

Nine more charges involving the alleged kidnaping and assault of three more women were filed today against an Immigration and Naturalization Service agent accused of abducting illegal aliens off streets in the San Fernando Valley and threatening to deport them unless they had sex with him. The latest charges bring the total to 17 against James Edward Riley. Included are allegations that he raped a woman after conducting an unauthorized, one-man "raid" at gunpoint on a Van Nuys bar.

A federal immigration officer pleaded not guilty Tuesday to charges that he told a woman she was under arrest for being unable to show she was a U.S. citizen, and then took her to his Van Nuys home and raped her at gunpoint. Prosecutors allege U.S. Immigration and Naturalization Service officer James Edward Riley, 32, raped the woman April 11 after threatening to arrest her for not having proper identification.

In sometimes tearful and hesitant testimony, four Latina women said Tuesday that they were stalked and assaulted by an Immigration and Naturalization Service agent who used his badge to abduct them off San Fernando Valley streets. James Edward Riley, 33, has pleaded not guilty to 17 counts including rape, rape under color of authority, kidnaping and false imprisonment in connection with seven alleged assaults between August, 1989, and last April.
