The City Council made new appointments to the 10th anniversary celebration planning committee. Three citizen committee members had resigned to protest the council's recent decision to have Mayor Ruby Netzley and Councilwoman Ingrid McGuire oversee the committee work. Netzley had said committee members not elected by the public should not be able to make "carte blanche" decisions that affect the city. The mayor said the decision wasn't a criticism of the committee members' work.
