CBT Group Names Apple Veteran as President: The Dublin, Ireland-based software company said it has appointed James J. Buckley president and chief operating officer, effective Sept. 3. Buckley was most recently president of Apple Americas and a senior vice president of Apple Computer Inc., where he was responsible for all aspects of Apple's business in the United States. He resigned after Gilbert Amelio took over as chairman of the Cupertino, Calif.-based computer maker earlier this year.

Apple Computer Inc. Chief Executive Gilbert F. Amelio has changed the company's top management structure, choosing six executives to report to him directly, the company announced late Thursday. Two of the six joined Apple after Amelio, the former chief executive of National Semiconductor Inc., succeeded Michael Spindler as Apple CEO in February. The chief of Apple's domestic operations, James J. Buckley, a victim of the shake-up, is leaving after 11 years at the company.
