Brandon League is coming, but who's going? The Dodgers announced their trade for the veteran right-handed reliever after Monday's game, but not how they would make room for him on their roster. They don't have to make the actual move until League arrives Tuesday. History says one reason for delaying the corresponding move on the eve of the nonwaiver trading deadline is the Dodgers are still working on another trade. A current reliever could be part of still another deal prior to Tuesday's 1 p.m. trade deadline.

The Dodgers' series opener against the Arizona Diamondbacks wasn't the only game that was on backup catcher Matt Treanor's mind Monday. As his teammates dressed in the clubhouse, Treanor sat in front of his locker, staring at a computer. This is how Treanor is following his wife, beach volleyball star Misty May-Treanor , as she tries to win her third consecutive Olympic gold medal in London. May-Treanor and partner Kerri Walsh Jennings beat a Czech team, 21-14, 21-19.

There might not be any crying in baseball, but it sure can offer revenge. The Dodgers, embarrassed when they visited San Francisco last month - - getting swept in a three-game series without scoring a single run - - returned this weekend and got as close to payback as they could have imagined. The Dodgers completed their own three-game sweep of the Giants at AT&T Park on Sunday behind Clayton Kershaw's five-hit shutout; their 4-0 victory pulling them into a tie with San Francisco for the lead in the National League West.

Hanley Ramirez made his Dodgers debut memorable Wednesday, delivering two key hits even though the Dodgers' lost to the St. Louis Cardinals, 3-2. Former Dodger Rafael Furcal singled in the winning run in the 12th inning off Dodgers reliever Jamey Wright. Three hours after joining the Dodgers in a trade, the three-time All Star tripled off the wall at Busch Stadium in his first at-bat, then scored the Dodgers' first run on James Loney's sacrifice fly. In the sixth inning, Ramirez singled to score Mark Ellis, who had doubled, for the Dodgers' second run on a night in which temperatures hovered in the high-90s as they have throughout the series.

ST. LOUIS — At 4:12 p.m. Wednesday, two Busch Stadium clubhouse attendants carried a black duffel bag with "Marlins" stenciled on the side to a locker in the Dodgers' clubhouse. There, a Dodgers uniform — with No. 13 sewn on the back for at least this night — hung inside and the attendants began shifting clothing and personal effects from the bag to the locker. The Hanley Ramirez era of the Dodgers had begun. Ramirez walked into the clubhouse a few minutes later, Dodgers clubhouse manager Mitch Poole handed him a blue Dodgers cap and, one by one, Dodgers players came by to shake Ramirez's hand to welcome the three-time All-Star.

Clayton Kershaw wasn't allowed to walk off the mound, he was poured off. If he was drenched in any more sweat, he would have needed chlorine. He looked like the Wicked Witch of the West after the bucket of water, needing only to cry, “I'm melting!” Kershaw had breezed through the first 4 2/3 innings and led 2-0, when the 103-degree heat appeared to take him out at the knees. He gave up a pair of two-out runs in the fifth and then could do almost nothing right in the sixth, allowing six more runs Tuesday in the Dodgers' 8-2 loss to the Cardinals at Busch Stadium.

Struggling Juan Uribe homered, doubled and drove in four runs to lead the Dodgers past the New York Mets, 8-5, on Saturday at Citi Field. Uribe, hitting under .200, capped his day with a two-run home run in the ninth inning off knuckleballer R.A. Dickey, the Mets starter who leads the National League with 13 wins but was called on in relief. For the second consecutive game the Dodgers chased the Mets' starting pitcher after only three innings, in this case veteran Miguel Batista.

NEW YORK — Juan Uribe received a one-day pardon from his tortured existence on Saturday. Uribe's ninth-inning, two-run home run against knuckleballer R.A. Dickey capped a memorable day for the long-slumping third baseman and secured the Dodgers' third consecutive victory, an 8-5 win over the New York Mets at Citi Field. Uribe also doubled and drew two walks. He drove in four runs and scored three, both seasons highs. "Today, I had a good day, a beautiful day," Uribe said.

That brief National League West  lead before the All-Star break appears to be a distant memory for the Dodgers. Two weeks removed from sitting at the top the division, the Dodgers have fallen two games behind San Francisco with a 3-2 loss to the Philadelphia Phillies on Monday in front of 32,238 at Dodger Stadium. The loss was the Dodger's third in a row and sixth in the last seven games dating back to a four-game trip to Arizona. The Dodgers are sliding down the division standings after holding the lead for a large stretch of the season.

PHOENIX -- Chad Billingsley will enter the All-Star break on the worst losing streak of his career. Billingsley was the losing pitcher in each of his last five starts, the most recent a 5-3 defeat to the Arizona Diamondbacks on Saturday at Chase Field. Billingsley's performance typified his season: not awful, not great. He was charged with four runs and six hits in six innings against the Diamondbacks. "That's what we've kind of seen," Manager Don Mattingly said.
