In other Division I games: Long Beach Wilson 12, Foothill 8--Goalie Adam Katz had 10 saves for Foothill (17-10). Brian Alexander, Mike Schulz, Blake Seymour and Brett Reynolds each scored twice for the Knights. Tony Azevedo and James Shin each had four goals for top-seeded Wilson. Newport Harbor 8, Los Angeles Loyola 6--Loyola scored its first goal a minute into the game, but Ryan Cook scored two minutes later for the Sailors.

In the third-place game: Coronado 11, Long Beach Wilson 6--Jesse Smith scored five goals for top-seeded Coronado. Caleb Miller and James Shin each scored two for Wilson. In the fifth-place game: No. 4 Foothill 8, North Hollywood Harvard-Westlake 7--Wes Fox scored the game-winner with one second remaining for Foothill. Fox finished with four goals, while Ian Elliott made 10 saves for the Knights (12-6). In an earlier game, Foothill beat No. 1 San Clemente, 7-6, as Elliott made 14 saves.

Two men who died in a collision on the Antelope Valley Freeway on Saturday were identified as James Hojin Shin, 41, and Eui Yong Choi, 39, both of Los Angeles, the Los Angeles County coroner's office reported Sunday. Witnesses told California Highway Patrol investigators that the two men were in a car headed southbound on the Antelope Valley Freeway near Pearblossom Highway about 5 p.m. Saturday when another car cut in front of them.

I quarterfinals, Indiana vs. UCLA, Drake Stadium, 7 p.m. Saturday -- The defending champion Bruins are one step away from a repeat appearance in the College Cup, but to get there they'll need to end the career of legendary Indiana Coach Jerry Yeagley, who has announced his retirement at the end of the season. Yeagley is college soccer's winningest coach, with a 541-101-15 record (14-3-5 this year) and five national championships in 31 seasons.

The Palos Verdes Peninsula High girls' tennis team served notice Tuesday that it is not about to give up its Southern Section Division I title by defeating Newport Harbor, 11-7. The Panthers, who have won seven Division I titles in eight years, swept the doubles matches en route to the victory over the Orange County power. Peninsula has no trouble getting motivated to play the Sailors. Newport Harbor ended Peninsula's 122-match unbeaten streak in 1996.

Foothill ended Long Beach Wilson's four-year grip on the Southern Section Division I water polo title, upsetting the Bruins, 8-4, in the semifinals Saturday at the Los Alamitos Armed Forces Reserve Center. It was the fourth time in five years that the teams have met in the playoffs and the first time the Knights came out on top. Wilson defeated Foothill in 1996 and '97 for the title and eliminated the Knights in last season's quarterfinals.

Three Fullerton teenagers were recovering Saturday from stab wounds suffered in a Friday night brawl outside a popular Papa John's Pizza restaurant. Two of the boys were released from UCI Medical Center in Orange; a third remained hospitalized in stable condition, a hospital spokesman said. Police identified the victims as James Shin, 16, Taesoo Kim, 16, and Andrew Kim, 17. All three live in Fullerton and two of the boys, Shin and Andrew Kim, work at Papa John's. "They're both really good kids.

The Securities and Exchange Commission has initiated an investigation into Northrop's payment of $6.25 million in 1984 to a South Korean strongman in an effort to sell jet fighters, according to the firm's proxy statement issued late Thursday. The firm also disclosed in the proxy that it severed a consulting agreement with former Chairman Thomas V. Jones during 1990, even though it must pay Jones $540,000 over the next two years.
