It's not quite being asked to perform at next year's Super Bowl , but for an R&B star who's faced no shortage of personal and professional tumult over the last few years, Brandy's ascent to the No. 2 spot on iTunes' album chart Tuesday afternoon probably feels an awful lot like validation. The singer's first solo disc since 2008's coolly received "Human," "Two Eleven" openly invites that kind of speculation. "It seemed I had it all, that's what they thought," Brandy sings in the album's heartfelt opener, " Wildest Dreams . " "But I was peeling like paint on the wall / I had to cover up the hurt," she continues.

Luke Bryan released his latest studio album over a year ago, but "Tailgates & Tanlines" is still paying considerable dividends: This week "Kiss Tomorrow Goodbye" -- the platinum-selling set's fourth single -- tops Billboard's Country Airplay chart. (Hear the song below.) Bryan has been pulling some serious red-carpet duty, as well, with several nominations at the recent Country Music Assn. Awards and a nod as favorite male country artist at the American Music Awards, to be handed out Sunday night at L.A.'s Nokia Theatre.

Blake Shelton -- the singer, songwriter and, most recently, one of the stars of reality music TV series "The Voice" -- came away the big winner in the 46th Country Music Assn. Awards ceremony Thursday in Nashville, winning entertainer, male vocalist and song of the year honors, the latter shared with his wife, Miranda Lambert. "When I moved to Nashville in 1994, I had two goals: one day to have a gold record, and one day to be a member of the Grand Ole Opry," the 36-year-old Oklahoma native told the crowd looking on in the country music capital's Bridgestone Arena.
