Authorized biopics are rarely the most juicy or revealing films. But what happens in the opposite instance, when‎ the family of your subject actively doesn't want a movie and is willing and eager to share that sentiment with the world? Hillary Rodham Clinton may be savvy with those text messages, but that doesn't mean she's abandoned the art of letter writing. Just ask Jason Segel. The "How I Met Your Mother" actor chatted up Jimmy Fallon recently about the series' longstanding mystery: the identity of the mother in question, the woman whom main character Ted (Josh Radnor) winds up with. "Everyone always asks me, like on a red carpet or whatever, 'Who is the mother?' Because it's been almost eight years ... ," Segel told Fallon, "I always say Hillary Clinton as a joke.

In the world of amphibian celebrities, there's no bigger star than Kermit the Frog. Yet back in January on the set of Disney's upcoming film "The Muppets" — the first big screen outing for Jim Henson's beloved menagerie since 1999's "Muppets in Space" — the bona fide A-lister was all hard work and self-deprecating charm. Just minutes before heading inside a Universal soundstage to film a scene in which he commends his performers on a hard day's work, he took a minute to explain to a reporter that he's found some renewed sense of inner peace, particularly when it comes to being green.

Jason Segel is taking his goofy sensibility and packaging it for middle-schoolers in the form of a three-book deal with Random House, the company announced Wednesday. The first installment of "Nightmares!," co-written with “The Eternal Ones” author Kirsten Miller, is due out next year, the publisher said in a news release . Segel first turned his inspiration, an adventure about kids who have to save their town from fear, into a screenplay, according to CBS News . That got stuck in turnaround, but the "How I Met Your Mother" actor bought back the rights recently and converted the screenplay concept into a three-part book series.

Much like the hero of the new comedy "Forgetting Sarah Marshall" -- who is merrily undressed at home and expecting an entirely different purpose for his girlfriend's visit than her dumping him -- actor-screenwriter Jason Segel endured his own Naked Breakup. But there is a key difference between what Segel's state of mind was when it happened to him and that of his movie character, who is too despondent to even pull on a pair of jeans as he gets the news.

The only thing better than one Kermit is two. And the only thing better than two Kermits is one with a Russian accent. Throw Tina Fey into a gulag, force Ricky Gervais to play second fiddle to a nefarious frog, stick Ray Liotta in a chorus line and you have a sense of the zany extremes to be found in "Muppets Most Wanted. " After the magically nostalgic return of the fuzzy-wuzzies to the big screen in 2011's "The Muppets," it's natural to think of "Most Wanted" as a sequel. Don't.

After the success of the 2011 reboot "The Muppets," which delighted critics and grossed more than $165 million worldwide, a sequel was inevitable. Opening March 21, "Muppets Most Wanted" picks up right where the Muppet gang left off and sends them on a grand tour of Europe. According to a number of early reviews, however, "Most Wanted" pales in comparison to its predecessor. Variety's Justin Chang calls the film "a hokey transcontinental caper that conspicuously lacks the winning blend of irreverence and sincerity that made 2011's 'The Muppets' such a delight.

You know times are tough when even the Muppets are facing bankruptcy, or worse, playing in a Muppet tribute band. What happened to the "rainbow connection"? That and more will be answered with nostalgic charm and big, splashy production numbers in the very warm and fuzzy musical comedy of "The Muppets.
