Manny Millan rushed for 240 yards and scored three touchdowns to lead Garden Grove to a 34-9 victory over Bolsa Grande Friday at Garden Grove. Millan, a junior, carried the ball 23 times and scoring on runs of 14, 9 and 86 yards. Garden Grove (3-7, 3-4) kept the ball on the ground throughout the game, attempting only nine passes. "This was a nice way to end the season," Garden Grove Coach Jeff Buenafe said. "Manny's certainly capable of big games like this but he's been slowed with injuries.

The Garden Grove High football team has forfeited four Garden Grove League victories for using an ineligible player, said Bill Clark, Southern Section administrator in charge of football. "I spoke with the Garden Grove principal (Peggy Mahfood), and she informed me they forfeited the games against Bolsa Grande, La Quinta, Santiago and Kennedy," Clark said Friday. Garden Grove Coach Jeff Buenafe said the ineligibility was caused by a clerical error.

Garden Grove kept its feet on the ground Friday, and wore down San Luis Obispo for a 20-0 victory in the quarterfinals of the Division VII playoffs at San Luis Obispo. Senior running back Jim Sebreros carried 27 times for 213 yards and two second-half touchdowns and led the Argonauts to 319 rushing yards. Quarterback Brian Schneider threw only one pass in the second half and six in the game.

Quarterbacks Marc O'Brien of Valencia High School and Jason Luevanos of Brea-Olinda head the list of selections for the North team that will participate in the 33rd Orange County all-star football game July 10 at Orange Coast College. O'Brien finished as the county's top-ranked passer, completing 69% of his attempts for 1,141 yards and 11 touchdowns in leading Valencia to the Southern Section Division VI championship.

There ought to be a law against what the Rancho Alamitos High football team is doing to its opponents this season. The Vaqueros unleashed their offense with gusto Friday night to defeat Garden Grove, 43-13, in a Garden Grove League opener in front of 3,000 at Garden Grove High. It was the fourth time this season the Vaqueros (3-1, 1-0) have scored 30 or more points in a game and the second time they have surpassed 40 points. They have allowed 29 points in four games.

See Jim Sebreros run. See an inspired Garden Grove High School defensive unit stop the Pacifica offensive plan cold. See the Argonauts pull off perhaps the biggest upset of the Garden Grove League season. The 800 or so in attendance at Garden Grove High Friday night saw that and much more as the Argonauts, with sophomore tailback Sebreros providing the groundwork, defeated Pacifica, 27-14.
