The criminal charges that were sought against [wildlife activist] Bob Farner ("Busting the Good Samaritan," by Fred Dickey, Aug. 12) were so outrageous as to be unbelievable. Members of the San Diego Humane Society should be ashamed of themselves for harassing such a fine citizen. If anyone should be prosecuted, it should be the police at the scene of the accident. Their inaction placed a heavy burden on a private citizen who should not have had the responsibility of disposing of the deer.

Really, River's End is a bit of heaven, where the beautiful Russian River meets the sea and the Sonoma coast in big rocks and crashing waves. A gourmet restaurant with drop-dead views is perched above the placid estuary of the river, separated by a sandy bar from the wild ocean beyond. After dinner, I had to walk only a few steps downhill to a knotty-wood cabin with a soft bed and a picture window instead of a TV. I stayed just one night, which cost me about $250 for dinner ($85) and the cabin ($162)

Olympic track champion Florence Griffith Joyner was eulogized Saturday as a woman of great stamina and style who motivated countless young athletes with her speed and inspired her family with her grace and faith. The Kardashian momager, 57, and former Olympian, 63, issued a statement Tuesday to several publications announcing their decision to split after 22 years of marriage. "We are living separately and we are much happier this way," the "Keeping Up With the Kardashians" stars told E! News in a statement. So much is ambiguous about Bruce Jenner these days - and on Thursday that included whether he'd be continuing on "Keeping Up With the Kardashians. " The speculation kicked off with an exclusive TMZ report that Jenner would be leaving the show after the current season (that's season 9, which is now airing and also in production). The Olympic medalist reportedly wanted to be away from Hollywood, golfing, flying helicopters, riding motorcycles and spending off-camera time with his kids.

Bruce Jenner and wife Kris Jenner, the Kardashian momager, have separated but don't plan to file for divorce. "I'm doing great," the former Olympian, 63, told People. "Kris is happy, I'm happy. Nobody is filing for divorce. " The couple, who have been married since 1991, announced their separation Tuesday , confirming that the two were happily living apart -- he at his Malibu beach house and she at the Kardashian family home in Calabasas. The new company, called Team Jenner, will market products and programs under the brand Winning Formula. National Media Corp. will produce infomercials and manage product orders for Team Jenner.

Attorney Albert E. Jenner, the chief Republican counsel in the congressional impeachment proceedings against President Richard M. Nixon, died Sunday after a long illness. He was 81. Jenner, considered an expert on the field of evidence in federal cases, also served as a counsel to the Warren Commission investigation of the assassination of President John F. Kennedy and as a member of the National Commission on the Causes and Prevention of Violence.
