Jennifer Lopez on Sunday was apologizing for singing "Happy Birthday to You" to the president of Turkmenistan at a concert Saturday night in that country. Seems the concert was put together on behalf of China National Petroleum Corp. for the entertainment of their executives working in Turkmenistan, according to a statement from J.Lo's rep obtained by E! News , and "was not a government sponsored event or political in nature. " "The event was vetted by her representatives, had there been knowledge of human rights issues of any kind, Jennifer would not have attended," the statement continued.

The "American Idol" Top 6 made like Donny and Marie Osmond, circa 1976, and went a little bit country and a little bit rock 'n' roll (the perfect fresh reference for pulling in that young demographic the show's been aiming hard for this season) on Wednesday night, though not in that order. It was a drawn-out, slackish evening that felt every bit of its two hours and more. Sections between performances were filled with noisy coach banter and appearances by the band R5 and a very sedate Grumpy Cat. The extremely non-frisky, permanently bemused feline was held by host Ryan Seacrest, kissed by contestant Caleb Johnson, imitated by Jennifer Lopez and awkwardly carried on for a final appearance by Randy Jackson, who exclaimed, "The dawg holding the cat!

I ended up doing two years … It was just such a lovely surprise in my life to do it.” PHOTOS: 'American Idol' judges through the years She continued, “It gets more complicated as the kids get a little bigger.

The Glendale-based channel, which targets English-speaking Latinos, said Lopez is becoming a partner in the venture. In addition to helping shape the strategy, distribution and marketing, Lopez and her production company - Nuyorican Productions - plan to develop shows for the outlet, which is available in about 30 million homes.

Jennifer Lopez has already promoted Casper Smart from dancer to choreographer, but is she ready to promote him from boyfriend to baby daddy? That's what folks are speculating, as Lopez is piping up about her openness to having more kids while promoting her baby-centric comedy "What to Expect When You're Expecting. "  "It would be a blessing," Lopez told People magazine about the notion of procreating after twins Max and Emme, whom she shares with ex Marc Anthony. Suri Cruise might have the most enviable celebrity-kid closet, but Emme Maribel Muñiz, daughter of Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony, had a front row seat for Paris Fashion Week. Indeed, J.Lo brought some mommy glamor Tuesday while viewing Chanel's spring/summer 2013 collection, designed by the distinct Karl Lagerfeld, at Paris' Grand Palais. With dancer boyfriend Casper Smart in their party, both mother and daughter caused a photographer frenzy in soft and feminine lace-detail dresses.

Jennifer Lopez notched one in the "loss" column Wednesday in her fight against her former chauffeur when an L.A. Superior Court judge booted her $20-million extortion cross-complaint against Hakob Manoukian. The battle started back in April, when Manoukian, a driver for the singer and actress since 2005, sued Lopez and manager Benny Medina for breach of contract and more. Lopez swung back at Manoukian in August, alleging extortion and seeking $20 million in damages. The singer claimed the driver had demanded $2.8 million and threatened to spill personal secrets if he didn't get it. According to documents obtained by E!

If we've learned one thing from "American Idol" this season, it's that Jennifer Lopez is a really nice person. That niceness was on major display in Wednesday night's double dose of "Idol," which took us to Las Vegas for a round of Beatles numbers that helped the judges winnow the contestants from 61 to 40, and then back to Los Angeles for the beginning of the judges' personal meetings with contestants to let them know whether they'd been selected for...

The "American Idol" Top 8 took the stage to sing the songs they'd auditioned with on Wednesday night and showed how far they've come during what Ryan Seacrest likes to call their "'Idol' journey. " "I'm so proud of everyone tonight," Keith Urban said after the last singer had taken his turn. "You guys have stepped it up enormously. " It's true. Blanketed in the security of a familiar song, many of the singers displayed a new level of comfort and control, prompting Urban to spring to his feet repeatedly to bestow standing ovations.

The theme on "American Idol" on Wednesday night was "I'm With the Band," and Keith Urban predicted that the presence onstage of Rickey Minor and his fellow musicians would make many of the Top 9 contestants more comfortable. "I think some of them are really going to step up tonight," he said as the show kicked off. The performances would prove Urban to have been prescient, by and large, but what the "Idol" judge probably hadn't foreseen was that the evening would also include the pilfering of Ryan Seacrest's shoe by Harry Connick Jr. - not to mention Seacrest hopping around the stage barefoot and, eventually, requesting the services of Jennifer Lopez's pedicurist in a joking, roundabout sort of way. Nor, I'm guessing, would Urban have imagined that we would all be treated to slo-mo footage of Connick and Lopez hungrily ripping into a giant purple gummy bear with their teeth, despite the fact that Urban himself had presented Connick with the ultra-large ursine candy; or that Lopez would get big-time bleeped, presumably for swearing under her breath as Connick badgered her to do a "hair flip"; or the other antics that made Wednesday's show seem a bit more high-spirited and sassy than usual.

The Top 11 on "American Idol" tackled songs from the cinema on Wednesday night, and in keeping with the theme, many of the singers seemed to come into artistic focus for the first time. As each stepped forward to sing a song either written for or "heavily featured in" (or in some cases, loosely connected to) a film, they faced heightened stakes. They were singing not only to remain in the competition but also to earn a spot on the summer "Idol" tour. But more than anything, they probably did their best in hopes of not displeasing Harry Connick Jr. They succeeded.

The second night of "American Idol's" Rush Week, on which 15 male contestants showed up ready to sing, though only 10 would be invited to do so, went much more smoothly than the first. Of course, it wasn't a terribly high bar to surmount. Like the women the previous night, the men had prepped with "Idol" veterans Randy Jackson, Adam Lambert and Chris Daughtry and sat nervously in the holding room, waiting to be summoned forth by the judges one by one to run through a long passageway lined with happy, applauding young people (Who were those people?

As it kicked off its "final judgment" round on Thursday, a name that one contestant griped sounded alarmingly apocalyptic, "American Idol" showed a clip of Harry Connick Jr. lecturing the 48 contestants who'd made it to the solo round. "At the top of my list of pet peeves is hearing people bitch about that they don't feel good," he told the stressed-out singers, some of them apparently sick. "Just suck it up and sing. It's entertainment. " As Connick gave his little speech, the following words flashed on the screen: "No more Mr. Nice Guy. " PHOTOS: Behind the scenes of movies and TV Poor Harry.

On its penultimate night of Season 13 auditions Wednesday, "American Idol" searched for stars in Salt Lake City, where it found nine locals who made the grade and supplemented with out-of-state talent from the "Idol" audition bus tour. Thirty singers made it through in all, over what we were told were two days of auditions, bringing the Hollywood-bound total to 193 ahead of the season's final audition stop in Omaha on Thursday. Yes, friends. We've almost made it to Hollywood -- and not a moment too soon.

New judge Harry Connick Jr. cemented his role as tough-to-please truth teller on "American Idol" on Thursday night, as the auditions returned to Austin for a second night and then moved on to San Francisco. "This is tough because it's a perfect story," he told 15-year-old hopeful Tristen Langley, who'd brought his mother, "Idol" Season 1 third-place finisher Nikki McKibbin, to his audition. She stood nearby, mouthing the words as he sang a so-so "Santeria. " "I just think if mom weren't here and the story weren't here, I can guarantee you it wouldn't work for me. " Jennifer Lopez, who had gushed about the "crazy" history being made -- "We're a second generation 'Idol' already!"
