Thailand's Srichaphan Tanakorn defeated Zeeshan Ali of India 6-4, 5-7, 6-2 Sunday in the boys' singles final of the Hong Kong Open junior tennis championships. In the girls' singles final, top seed Paulette Moreno of Hong Kong beat defending champion Jennifer Saberon of the Philippines 6-1, 6-0.

Jennifer Saberon didn't pick up a tennis racket until she was 12, but in less than a year she developed a powerful serve-and-volley game that is uncommon among women tennis players. Saberon, a native of the Philippines and a sophomore on the Loyola Marymount tennis team, is undefeated in singles and doubles this season. "She comes into the net on everything," Loyola Coach Jamie Sanchez said. "Very few women at the national level, at the Division I level, go to the net as much as she does."

The Cal State Dominguez Hills baseball team is scheduled to play California Collegiate Athletic Assn. leader Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, the third-ranked team in NCAA Division II, today and Saturday in Carson. The teams will play a single game at 2:30 p.m. today and a doubleheader at noon Saturday. Dominguez Hills (18-10) is tied for second in the CCAA with UC Riverside at 5-3. San Luis Obispo is 4-2. Pomona leads the conference at 6-3. The Toros have won three consecutive nonconference games.
