Thanks, ABC and Jenny McCarthy, for making it more likely that today's coddled children will get a taste of the character-building hardship our grandparents endured. Kids these days, they've had it so easy for so long, but they may finally get a dose of some old-world misery -- in the form of polio, whooping cough or smallpox. As a new parent (of twins!), I won't have any of it. You've probably learned by now that McCarthy will occupy a regular seat on the morning talk show "The View" starting in September, presumably bringing along her noxious anti-vaccine convictions . And for those who expect McCarthy's producers and co-hosts to tighten the reins when she spouts dangerous misinformation, take a hint from the no-so-subtle title of the show and put those expectations to rest.

Lindsay Lohan has admitted that a leaked, handwritten list of people she'd had sex with - many of them famous - was part of her fifth step in AA when she was at the Betty Ford Center.  The actress, whose docu-series on OWN wraps up this Sunday with back-to-back hourlong episodes, was playing a game of "Plead the Fifth" with Andy Cohen on Bravo's " Watch What Happens Live . " Having already used her one option to "plead the fifth" on on a...

Jenny McCarthy kissed Justin Bieber on Sunday night at the American Music Awards, grabbing him by the neck and then the butt after announcing him as the winner in the rock/pop album of the year category. All in good fun, right? "Wow. I feel violated right now," said Bieber, laughing off the slurp-stravaganza as he collected one of his three AMAs. "Wow. " Afterward, McCarthy attempted to explain herself - which might have been about as icky as going full cougar in the first place.

Jenny McCarthy and boyfriend Donnie Wahlberg are engaged, and the controversial co-host of "The View" is hysterically ecstatic about the upcoming nuptials. Seriously, check out the video footage . McCarthy, 41, made the announcement on the ABC's chat show Wednesday just before throwing her hands up in the air and running around the set in her best "Price Is Right," come on down style. The former Playboy bunny showed off her yellow sapphire engagement ring from Wahlberg, 44, who's brother to actor Mark Wahlberg and a former member of 1990s boy band New Kids on the Block.

Health experts already didn't like the fact that Jenny McCarthy got a job on "The View. " Now comes word that ordinary viewers don't like her either. McCarthy, the former Playboy model who joined ABC's morning chatfest this year, is proving more polarizing than Elisabeth Hasselbeck, the outspoken former panelist who left to join Fox News, according to Radar. The report says the producers are scrutinizing data about audience preferences and that McCarthy's job is "in jeopardy.

Jenny McCarthy has learned the hard way that Twitter can be a dose of bitter medicine.  On Thursday, "The View" co-host posed a seemingly innocuous question to her 1.1 million followers on Twitter: " What is the most important personality trait you look for in a mate? Reply using #JennyAsks . " The former Playboy model and co-host of the '90s MTV dating show "Singled Out" has been one of the most outspoken celebrity advocates of a  debunked theory linking childhood vaccines with autism.

Comedienne turned Playboy centerfold turned autism advocate Jenny McCarthy may not have a medical degree like Dr. Mehmet Oz. But she has publicly embraced some medical opinions that are even more flimsily supported by scientific evidence than some of those espoused by her TV colleague. And now that McCarthy has got a seat on "The View," she'll have a similarly vast audience to misinform. When she's not holding forth on sex -- and let's face it, McCarthy's probably no less qualified than many others to speak expertly on the subject -- McCarthy portrays herself as an expert on the subject of autism, a neurodevelopmental disorder with which her 11-year-old son, Evan, was diagnosed in 2005.

Julie Chen and Sharon Osborne went on Howard Stern's satellite radio show on Wednesday to discuss their CBS morning show, "The Talk. " But things soon turned to the prospect that "The Talk," which has been on the air since only 2010, would soon surpass its ABC forerunner, "The View," in the ratings. And that naturally prompted Stern to ask Chen and Osborne point-blank if it was a mistake for "The View" to have hired Jenny McCarthy as a panelist. Chen surprisingly answered yes. But then she went on to explain her thinking.

Those watching Jenny McCarthy's debut on ABC's "The View" this morning should keep in mind one thing: She's not qualified in the least to give you advice on vaccinating your children. McCarthy, the model and TV personality who moonlights as the anti-vaccine movement's most influential (read: dangerous) voice, sells plenty of books , speaks passionately about parenting and cracks off-color jokes. She also peddles the discredited , poisonous claims that the way we vaccinate our children against the diseases that were once regular killers of children places our young ones at greater risk of developing autism -- the kind of conspiracy theorizing that will draw only more eyeballs.

NEW YORK - Less than a week after Elisabeth Hasselbeck said her goodbyes after 10 years on "The View," another divisive blond has joined the daytime talk show. On Monday, Barbara Walters confirmed the rumors that Playboy model-turned-anti-vaccine-crusader Jenny McCarthy would officially become a co-host on "The View" when it launches its 17th season on Sept. 9. "We love her because she's fun and uninhibited and opinionated enough to help us begin the latest chapter in 'The View' history," Walters said on the air of McCarthy, who has made 17 appearances on the show, including eight as a guest co-host.
