When it came to Jessica Chastain's hair for the Golden Globes, it was all about highlighting her vintage diamond Bvlgari necklace. "Jessica wanted her hair off of her face and [wanted it] wavy," said her hair stylist, Oribe. Not surprisingly, Oribe used products from his eponymous line to achieve Chastain's hairdo. He started by blowing out her hair with his Grandiose Hair Plumping Mousse for texture and movement, and then added Thick Dry Finishing Spray for fullness. Once the hair was smooth, he used his Soft Lacquer Heat Styling Spray and curled sections of Chastain's hair with a 2-inch curling iron, for waves that looked soft yet would last throughout the night.

Ned Benson has had a pretty typical life toiling on the Hollywood assembly line. Relocating to Los Angeles after graduating from Columbia in 2001, the former English major and aspiring filmmaker placed a few scripts on the industry's coveted Black List and landed work-for-hire writing jobs with some respected producers.   But as he banged out scripts for others' conventional projects, he wondered whether there weren't a different kind of movie to be made.   Or, rather, he wondered whether there weren't a different kind of movies to be made.

Jessica Chastain's yearlong fashion parade — from the release of seven films in 2011 and the attendant press junkets and premieres — shows that the actress favors feminine frocks with strong punches of color, such as teal, violet and crimson. But Chastain's most striking look so far is the bold yellow Zac Posen gown she wore at the Cannes Film Festival, which, with its structured bodice, tiered skirt and vibrant hue, popped against the red carpet-covered stairs like a spray of sunshine.

Though he'll forever be known as Carmella's husband, Junior's nephew and a thorn in the side of every two-bit stoodge who tried to cross him, James Gandolfini had a pretty robust acting career outside his Tony Soprano role, particularly in film. The actor, who died Wednesday at 51, was on the big screen as far back as the early 1990's in small but memorable tough-guy parts--in Tony Scott's "True Romance," or opposite Geena Davis in the Brooklyn neighborhood tale "Angie. " But his character-acting career took off after the screen went black on "The Sopranos" in 2007.

One of the first out of the gate at the Lincoln Center tents, menswear designer Todd Snyder presented his Fall 2013 "Rebel Gentlemen" collection at Mercedes-Benz New York Fashion Week on Thursday. Inspiration: The foundation of Snyder's collection was a favorite black, 1950s leather motorcycle jacket he'd found a decade ago in a Leeds (England) vintage shop. The look: Retro-sporty gentleman outlaw -- the kind who might rob a bank and escape across the desert on a motorcycle and look rakish doing it. In addition to a lovingly distressed asymmetrical zip leather jacket there were equally luxe-looking outerwear pieces with a functional feel including riffs on the peacoat (one in black pony hair, another in horsehide with a generous shearling collar)

Former New York City Mayor Ed Koch died the same day a new documentary about his life and legacy opened in New York. "Koch," which will open in Southern California theaters beginning March 1, offers evidence that the combative mayor had mellowed little in his later years. Filmmaker Neil Barsky conducted extensive interviews with Koch in his Manhattan apartment in 2010 and early 2011, where the former mayor, who ruled New York from 1978 to 1989, spoke of his controversial time in office, offering no restrictions on subject matter or time.
