A Shia Muslim terrorist group in Lebanon said it killed Yehuda Benesti, 80, a Lebanese Jewish hostage who was kidnaped in 1985. He was the fourth Lebanese Jew that the Organization of the Oppressed on Earth has claimed it killed since February, 1986; two of the previous victims were Benesti's sons, Youssef and Ibrahim. A statement on behalf of the group, delivered to a Beirut newspaper, accused Yehuda Benesti and his sons of being spies for Israel.

A militant Muslim faction that kidnaped four Lebanese Jews and killed one said Saturday that it will kill the other three unless Israeli-backed forces stop shelling Shia Muslim villages in southern Lebanon. The warning was made in a statement issued by the Organization of the Oppressed on Earth and published by the independent Beirut newspaper An Nahar. The group is believed to consist of Shia extremists loyal to Iran.
