Nightly--in their club wear best--Latin groovers get jiggy at the mercury hot Conga Room on Wilshire Boulevard, dubbed the House of Blues for Latinos. There is not, repeat not, a goaltender controversy brewing with the Mighty Ducks. Coach Mike Babcock made that clear again Wednesday. The problem for him is that Martin Gerber's play keeps dropping more questions at Babcock's feet. Jean-Sebastien Giguere may have the Conn Smythe Trophy, but Gerber is getting the playing time. Gerber had his fourth consecutive solid game, a 23-save performance in a 4-2 victory over Washington on Wednesday.

The white that flares out of a woodblock print is not the absence of the engraver's tool but its deepest scoring. And to personify fiction's equivalent whiteness--a simple soul or holy fool--requires a most intense and sharply worked kind of characterization. Ping Latvong and Nasty Sassy know how to "get jiggy with it." They grooved to Will Smith's hip-hop tune at a Frisbee competition last weekend. With Latvong's chest as a springboard, the 2 1/2-year-old border collie leaped and soared 7, sometimes 8 feet in the air, catching Frisbee after Frisbee in her mouth. Sassy twirled and flipped. She walked backward and then sat pretty. With spunk and sass, she performed every trick in the book--and then some.

He boogies across the stage at Venice's Muscle Beach to the driving beat of "Gettin' Jiggy Wit' It." He dances, he whirls, he slides easily into the splits. His muscle-flexing poses show off solidly cut biceps and abs. Strutting, he grins teasingly as he motions his cheering fans to their feet. He owns the crowd. A compact superstar in Batman shorts, he is fast becoming a guest sensation at fitness competitions. And he is 7 years old.
