Jill Lloyd, of Jill Lloyd & Associates, was reelected to the executive committee of the board of directors for the International Festivals and Events Assn. at its annual convention in Montreal. It will be Lloyd's second term on the executive board and fourth year as director of the association, which is a trade organization for festivals and events worldwide.

City resident Diane Sorensen has accepted a temporary position with the Orange County Fair, succeeding Jill Lloyd & Associates as director of public affairs, fair officials said. Jill Lloyd & Associates left recently after 25 years with the fair. Sorensen's $35,000 contract will expire Aug. 31. Her primary duty will be to act as a transitional team leader and to take care of the immediate needs and projects related to the upcoming fair.

Capping a year in which a record 685,240 people attended the Orange County Fair, the advertising campaign that brought at least some of them to the fairgrounds has won two awards. Two ads for the fair--one for television and the other for radio--were honored by the International Assn. of Business Communicators, a guild of advertising agencies and public relations firms.

Jill Lloyd, spokeswoman and event promoter for the Orange County Fairgrounds, will help lead the publicity committee for the AIDS Services Foundation's 12th annual AIDS Walk Orange County. Lloyd, who has been involved with the foundation for six years, is volunteering all services. The 10K walk at UC Irvine on June 7 is expected to draw 13,000 participants. Since 1987, the event has raised more than $3 million for disease-related services.

The PTAs of Travis Ranch Elementary School and Bernardo Yorba Junior High School, both in Yorba Linda, were named two of the "Nine Outstanding Units" by the California State PTA organization. "We at the Placentia Unified District are extremely honored and delighted that two schools from our council--and neighboring ones at that--were chosen for this award," said Marsha McNamara, president of the Bernardo Yorba Junior High Parent Teacher Assn. Colleen Hayashi is president of the Travis Ranch PTA.
