"What to Expect When You're Expecting"is essentially the Hallmark card version of the sage, saucy and very specific how-to bestseller by Heidi Murkoff. The movie's sentimental squibs on pregnancy merely skim the surface scratched so thoroughly by the book. As Murkoff knew and mined so well, there is a lot of nature-made comedy to be found in the discomforts of distended bodies, raging hormones and altered relationships. There is also pathos and pain, especially for couples who can't conceive.

As befits a movie filled with explosions and visual effects spectacle, “Battleship” director-producer Peter Berg rolled up to the film's U.S. premiere Thursday in a “shredder,” modeled after aliens' powerful metal machines in the movie. Yes, sometimes they'll be tucked away behind a very tough velvet rope, but here is a list of some of the weekend's hottest star parties. Camp Playboy: As a salute to fanboys and a vintage take on summer, Playboy will construct a fairground on 6th Street come Friday evening, where chosen ones will enjoy croquet, horseshoes, bonfires and a zipline — all around a lake shaped like the brand's signature bunny.

Celebrities gathered en masse on the lawn of Veterans Affairs campus for "A Time for Heroes," a June 12 benefit for the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation. As the day's heroes, the stars, including Ashlee Simpson, Ashley Tisdale, Olivia Munn, Laila Ali, Mira Sorvino, Eva La Rue, Angus T. Jones, Melissa Rivers and Zachary Levi, mingled among guests and manned carnival-style booths. Chad Michael Murray of "One Tree Hill" supervised a rock-climbing wall, while Tatyana Ali of "The Young and the Restless" helped youngsters string beads.
