Actress Joely Fisher, who stars on the sitcom " 'Til Death," has sold her Encino compound for $2.4 million, according to the Multiple Listing Service. The four-bedroom, seven-bathroom contemporary was built in 1955 and rebuilt in 2005 to incorporate Asian and Craftsman details. It has 4,511 square feet of living space and sits on three-quarters of an acre with city and mountain views, a sports court and a lagoon pool with a pool house. Fisher, 42, has played opposite Brad Garrett on the Fox comedy since 2006.

The four-bedroom, seven-bathroom contemporary had been on and off the market since mid-2007, perhaps prompting the actress to wonder whether she would own it " 'Til Death," to borrow the name of the Fox comedy on which she plays opposite Brad Garrett. With such features as a home theater, a saline swimming pool and a cabana imported from India, their residence was designed for entertaining. Plus, there is parking for 12 to 14 cars, including a two-car garage.

Re "Stars test the waters for hydrogen cars," June 15 Although it was an interesting article, I was surprised that this story made front page news. This story was more fitting in two other sections: Classifieds, because it was largely a promotional piece to create buzz for Honda, Toyota, BMW and General Motors; and Calendar, because it promoted a list of who's who in Hollywood and profiled the latest accessories the elite frequently receive from corporate America. Do you really think Kristin Davis, Joely Fisher, America Ferrera or Cameron Diaz can persuade the average consumer to buy a $100,000 car when most Americans are struggling to put food on the table and gas in the tank to get to work?

And just as one would expect from the cable network for women, both new series revolve around strong female characters.

An evening of comedy, hosted by "Ellen" co-stars Arye Gross and Joely Fisher, will be held as a benefit for KidsPeace, at the Laugh Factory in Hollywood on Nov. 3.
