The financing was arranged with E. F. Hutton Life Insurance Co. by John Burnham & Co. of San Diego for Norwich-Van Raaphorst Properties, the developer. Construction is scheduled to begin in mid-March.

Construction is scheduled to begin early next year. The company signed a $29.9-million, 55-year ground lease on the property, under terms of an agreement arranged by the John Burnham & Co. commercial brokerage division.

A 5-year-old, 44,011-square-foot research-and-development building on a 2.73-acre site in San Diego has been sold in a $5,145,000-transaction arranged by John Burnham & Co. Commercial Real Estate. Michael D. Coal was the seller, and Eastgate Mall Associates Ltd., with Hampton Properties Ltd. as general partner, was the buyer. The split-level office and manufacturing building, leased to a single tenant, is at 5330 Eastgate Mall in San Diego's Golden Triangle district.

Inc. has purchased the 48,000-square-foot building at 7650 Convoy Court, San Diego, from Convoy Properties for $2,925,000 and, in a concurrent escrow, exchanged the single-story building to Sickels, McLaren & Associates for a like consideration. Sickels, McLaren has rehabilitated the building and it is ready for occupancy. Coldwell Banker Commercial Real Estate Services and Property Management Division represented Convoy Properties while John Burnham & Co.

A large insurance company has signed a 10-year lease valued at about $4.8 million for 19,079 square feet of office space in the new Koll Center, under construction at 501 W. Broadway in downtown San Diego. The Chubb Group of Insurance Cos., doing business as Federal Insurance Co., will move into the space when the center is completed in July. John Burnham & Co. represented the insurer. The Koll Co., developer of the center, represented itself in the transaction.

For someone who advanced to the semifinals of the women's 100-meter dash in the 1988 U.S. Olympic trials after her junior year at Rio Mesa High, Angela Burnham of UCLA has set modest short-term goals. "I want to stay healthy and complete a whole season," Burnham said. "I'd like to make it back to the NCAA championships and do something."
