Ed Schilling, the basketball coach at Indianapolis Park Tudor High, will be joining Steve Alford's staff at UCLA, according to Park Tudor Athletic Director Brad Lennon . Schilling was coach at Wright State from 1997-2003. He was an assistant on John Calipari's staffs at Massachusetts and Memphis, as well as an assistant with the New Jersey Nets. Whether Schilling's hiring gets UCLA in the mix for forward Trevon Bluiett remains to be seen. Bluiett will be a senior at Park Tudor in the fall and has received offers from top programs, including Indiana, Louisville, Michigan and Florida.

Where will John Calipari be coaching next season?  Will he leave the Kentucky Wildcats to join the Lakers? "I still think Kentucky," said Rex Chapman on "The Dan Patrick Show" on Tuesday. Chapman started a firestorm on Monday, tweeting that Calipari is a " done deal " to the Lakers. The Lakers quickly denied the rumor. ARLINGTON, Texas - Nothing like putting out a juicy oh-by-the-way rumor before the biggest college basketball game of the season. But former Kentucky star Rex Chapman tweeted before Monday night's national title game that Kentucky Coach John Calipari will be the next coach of the Lakers. Chapman doesn't site any sources or offer any timetable. Calipari said this week he was probably going to need his hip replaced shortly after Monday night's title game between Kentucky and Connecticut.

John Calipari, you just led the Kentucky Wildcats to the national championship! What are you going to do next? Anyone who knows anything about the 53-year-old coach knows his answer to that question would have nothing to do with a Disney theme park. But he is going on a trip - a recruiting trip, naturally, right after a quick visit with his daughter in Massachusetts. “Right now I'm going to have two days, and then I've got to go out recruiting Friday. ... I'm just looking forward," Calipari said after the Wildcats' 67-59 victory over Kansas in Monday's title game.

Sometimes, as George Mason, Butler and Virginia Commonwealth know, it's just your time. That's why we're going door to door selling Kentucky and John Calipari in this year's NCAA tournament. There comes a point in a great coach's career when the lilacs finally bloom. It took UCLA Coach John Wooden 16 years, remember, to win his first title. Dean Smith ran the cleanest shop in college hoops for years, yet the coach who started at North Carolina in 1961 didn't win it all until 1982.

John Calipari waited until he heard the question and quickly set the record straight when asked about his abilities as a recruiter. "Wait a minute. Wait a minute," the Kentucky coach said. "When I was at UMass, we had one McDonald's All-American, Donta Bright. When I was at Memphis, we may have had three over my years there. We weren't getting top-50 players at UMass. We were winning. We were a terrific team. I had to coach guys four years. " This is not the first time in this tournament, or over the years at Kentucky, that Calipari has pointed out he has built programs differently and won. But the Calipari everyone knows at Kentucky has become synonymous with one-and-done freshmen, five-star recruits who bolt to the NBA after one season.

NEW ORLEANS — It's no secret that Kentucky Coach John Calipari and Louisville's Rick Pitino are not the best of friends. Friday, though, they came together to tape a segment for Jim Rome's new television show. How did it go? "The table was flipped over and people were rolling around, but I'm not going to say more, and I'll let you guys watch it on CBS," Calipari said. He was kidding — we think. Kentucky and Louisville face each other Saturday in a Final Four semifinal.

John Calipari agreed Tuesday to leave Memphis and the dominant program he built and take on the challenge -- and riches -- of returning Kentucky to college basketball glory. Calipari will receive an eight-year, $31.65-million deal plus incentives, according to the university, making him the highest-paid coach in college basketball. The school also will pay Memphis a $200,000 buyout. The 50-year-old Calipari has a record of 445-140 in 17 seasons.

NEW ORLEANS -- No one hit a jumper to send the game to overtime, or called a timeout his team didn't have, or put a missed airball in the basket to win the national title. Sometimes the experts are right and serendipity gets dunked. Kentucky won its eighth NCAA basketball championship Monday night with a 67-59 victory over Kansas before a crowd of 70,913 at the Superdome. NEW ORLEANS — This is a make-or-fastbreak moment for Kentucky, the one-and-done movement and Coach John Calipari. It's not a question of whether Kentucky will win Monday night's NCAA title game against Kansas. Kentucky must win — or else, well, consider badminton? This year's trophy has, for days, been sitting on a silver platter. Kentucky's star-studded cavalcade caught a huge break when fourth-seeded Louisville broke through the West into Lexington's side of the bracket.

NEW ORLEANS — Louisville Coach Rick Pitino , after Saturday's NCAA national semifinal defeat, had the courage to compare Kentucky freshman center Anthony Davis to Bill Russell . Sacrilege? "When you see this young man at the collegiate level, you realize why they're so good," Pitino said of Davis. "Not that their other players aren't, but he's so much of a factor. " Davis had 18 points, 14 rebounds and five blocked shots in Kentucky's 69-61 win against Louisville.
