An Orange County man is in custody after he allegedly doused two Tijuana policemen with gasoline and set them and their patrol car on fire. After John M. Racich of Garden Grove was arrested Wednesday morning, he told federal authorities that he set the policemen on fire because they had extorted more than $1,800 from him, and then tried to get more money. A federal source said Racich told investigators he had gone to Tijuana about 11 p.m.

An Orange County man accused of torching a Tijuana police car and two policemen who were inside was indicted by a federal grand jury in San Diego and faces 25 years in prison, authorities announced Wednesday. In addition, U.S. prosecutors said John M. Racich may be extradited to Mexico to face additional charges. Racich, 38, of Garden Grove, was arrested Nov. 4 at the San Ysidro Port of Entry by U.S. officials.
