Hasbro Wins British Game Maker: The Pawtucket, R.I.-based company said it bought the games division of John Waddington, the British maker of the Monopoly board game, for $78 million cash. The deal comes four months after Hasbro Inc. lost out to El Segundo-based Mattel Inc. in a battle to take over JW Spear & Sons, the British company that held the rights to the game Scrabble outside the United States.
