Big Night Out party-goers will get a chance to dine in architecturally interesting Pasadena-area homes on April 29 as part of the third annual event benefiting the AIDS Service Center. The event begins at 5 p.m. with a kickoff party at Liongate Manor, designed and built in 1948 by renowned architect Paul Williams. Under the ownership of Graham and Gretchen Lewis, Liongate Manor has been expanded from a 5,000-square-foot California ranch house to a 12,500-square-foot English manor house.

Cal State Fullerton, the nation's No. 1-seeded team heading into the NCAA baseball playoffs, coasted past Temple in its opening regional game Friday night at Fullerton, but the challenge becomes much more formidable today when the Titans face No. 2 Arizona State. It was the most runs for Fullerton in an NCAA tournament game since scoring 19 against Delaware in 1996 at Wichita, Kan.
Brandon Duckworth, expected to be back as one of Cal State Fullerton's top starting pitchers next season, has decided to pass up his senior year and has informed Titan Coach George Horton that he will sign a pro contract with the Philadelphia Phillies. "He put up some good numbers as a relief pitcher this summer in the Cape Cod League, and the Phils went after him," Titan pitching coach Dave Serrano said.

Quarterback Chris Collins' return to the Santa Margarita lineup can't come soon enough for the Eagles. For the second consecutive week, the offense failed to score a touchdown. Santa Margarita was held to 17 yards in 14 plays in the second half during a 21-0 loss to Glendora Friday in front of 2,500 at Saddleback College. Collins, a 6-2 junior, said before the game that he'll likely be out another two or three weeks because of the knee injury he suffered before the season-opener.

Calvary Chapel vs. Los Angeles Baptist Where--Blair Field, 7:30 p.m. Calvary Chapel (27-1-1)--Coach Joe Walters said his Olympic League champions could be better than the 1994 team that was the Division V runner-up and the 1995 team that won the Division V title. It definitely has been a tremendous year for the Eagles, who have not lost in their last 26 games (one tie) and have outscored opponents, 47-1, in four playoff games.
