The Jonas Brothers have broken up as a musical group, they announced Tuesday, and on Wednesday they went on "Good Morning America" to explain why the band is no more. Sort of. Well, they did explain, but it wasn't much fun. Funereal is more like it. Basically, the explanation boiled down to "we're family first" and "we were butting heads over the music. " Which was woefully free of the kind of behind-the-scenes scandal that would make the breakup more interesting. Nick Jonas said he was the one who first broached the topic with the other guys.

Justin Bieber's crowd was loud. One Direction's too. And though they seem like somebody's uncles now, the Jonas Brothers once inspired the kind of shrieks that could knock down a lesser heartthrob. But in my life as a concertgoer, I can't recall an audience operating at a higher volume -- and for as sustained a period of time -- as the one that Miley Cyrus thrilled Thursday night at the Honda Center in Anaheim. The Disney Channel child star turned hip-hop provocateur was kicking off the first of two Southland dates on her recently launched North American tour.

Two days before they were set to go on the road, the Jonas Brothers have canceled their tour. The trio axed their upcoming tour due to “creative differences on the music,” a representative for the band told Pop & Hiss on Wednesday. “The band has been recording since last year and has been unable to mutually agree on the musical direction at this point,” their rep said. PHOTOS: Concerts by The Times People magazine broke the news of a rift between the brothers -- Nick, 21, Joe, 24, and Kevin, 25 -- on Wednesday and reported a blow-up over the weekend as the catalyst for the cancellation.

Before Demi Lovato appeared in the flesh, she appeared on-screen -- the central figure in an underwater video sequence projected above the stage at Anaheim's Honda Center. The introduction was in keeping with Lovato's path as an entertainer, which began with work in children's television - first on “Barney & Friends” and later in a series of cheery Disney Channel properties - then moved into real-world pop stardom. Yet the clip that opened Thursday's concert wasn't flashing back to her kiddie-sitcom past.

Being "Married to Jonas" must be more exciting when there's new music involved. Clips from their recent studio work can be heard in the debut season of the reality show "Married to Jonas," which premiered on the E! network Sunday. The show largely focuses on the eldest Jonas, Kevin, and his wife, Danielle, but features the bandmates and larger family in the cast.

Is it another sign of the JoPocalypse? The Jonas Brothers have deleted the band's group Twitter account, @jonasbrothers, although all three siblings' individual accounts remain active. Coming on the heels of the JoBros' last-minute decision to cancel their 19-date fall tour, which was to start last Friday, the Twitter ditching is being interpreted by some as another sign that the group might be breaking up. "They are not getting along at all. It's uglier than you think," a music industry source told People on Thursday about Kevin, 25, Joe, 24, and Nick, 21. That after their spokesman last week told Us Weekly , "There is a deep rift within the band.

The singing sensations appeared this year in fellow Disney Channel star Miley Cyrus' successful 3-D concert film, directed by Bruce Hendricks. Hendricks will direct the brothers' movie. In a statement, brothers Kevin, Joe and Nick said: "We can't wait to start working on this film for our fans. It's going to be awesome and we really want to bring a totally unique and different movie experience to everyone whether they've seen us live or not."

How big are the Jonas Brothers? One day here last week, not knowing the cause, some floors of Rockefeller Center were evacuated when the floor shaking and screams of the lads' fans during a TV shoot sent trepidations through the tenants. It's hard to capture just how raucous the teenage choir for the Jonas Brothers is. But here, earlier in the day, they are on the set of CBS' "The Early Show."

On Saturday night, a target audience gathered at Irvine's Verizon Wireless Amphitheater that would set aflutter the heart of any marketer worth his metrics. The joyful tribe of 15,000 tweens was bound by the bright garb of Hot Topic, Abercrombie & Fitch and other mall stores, and sparkly cellphones, the palm-sweaty medium for cryptic-cute messages.

Demi Lovato has a new book coming out, and Monday on Facebook she gave fans a taste of what's to come. In the book's March 15 entry , Lovato reflects on the day that's the anniversary of her sobriety and recovery, and shares the serenity prayer.  "Those who are recovering use this prayer on a daily basis, but what is truly amazing about it is that you don't have to be in recovery to speak these words," she writes. "I have spoken this prayer almost every day of my recovery and it has helped simplify the sea of emotions and feelings that often run through me, especially on a hard day. We do the best we can in life, we take things one day at a time, and sometimes we all just need a simple reminder of that.

Hazing in the NBA has always been about as sinister as a Dora the Explorer backpack, as menacing as a Hanson song. If it were a reality television show, it could air on Nick Jr. Cue the cute and cuddly Earl Clark dressed as a banana. Cut to Quincy Pondexter carrying a box of Krispy Kreme doughnuts into his team's practice facility. Bring on Darren Collison and Marcus Thornton , trying their best to croon Beyonce's "Single Ladies. " Those are just some of the G-rated antics rookies have been subjected to in recent years.

Shabazz Muhammad departed Los Angeles after games against the Lakers and Clippers with something a little less embarrassing slung over his back. Instead of a Jonas Brothers backpack, the Minnesota Timberwolves rookie sported a black Gucci bag. He can thank the NBA as well as Timberwolves team President Chris Wright and General Manager Milt Newton for the upgrade in accessories. Minnesota banned its players from wearing child-themed backpacks as part of a rookie ritual after the NBA sent out a memo warning teams about bullying and hazing in the wake of the Miami Dolphins scandal involving Richie Incognito.

Acts that've scored bigger debuts in 2013 include Daft Punk, Drake and Justin Timberlake, whose "The 20/20 Experience" is the year's bestselling album.

What's it like to be cheated on, especially under Hollywood's microscope? Liberty Ross is sharing her own experience, which came when then-husband Rupert Sanders was captured on film in mid-2012 necking around town with his "Snow White and the Huntsman" star Kristen Stewart. The affair would go on to demolish both Robert Pattinson's relationship with Stewart and Ross' marriage to Sanders, despite public apologies from both guilty parties. "It was horrible," Ross, 35, says in the December issue of Vanity Fair.

In their hit cover of the English pop-punk band Busted's "Year 3000," the Jonas Brothers sing about a visit to the future, where "this song had gone multiplatinum." If they keep proceeding at their current pace, they won't have to wait quite that long: Thanks in part to their opening stint on last year's blockbuster Hannah Montana tour, the band's self-titled sophomore disc (which includes "Year 3000") is on track to hit the million-sold mark within weeks.
